... the "weeks" are several clumped together at a time?

I like knowing weekly what is going on, not get an update once a month or so Got all excited when I saw the week by week thing, then realised it isn't.

Poor MNHQ, people keep complaining about their counting of weeks/days.

This has 42 weeks, is that enough?

I didn't read it, I just found it. What's 42 weeks for? 'You are now very uncomfortable and fed up with people asking you if the baby is here yet. Curry, long walks, and even sex have been suggested as ways to get the damn thing out!'

42 weeks is "why are you reading this, you don't care what is happening to the demon child from hell now, you just want it OUT!"

DD was 44 weeks

Could be worse, you could have a child that grows abnormally fast, wants to drink blood instead of milk, and is strong enough inside the womb to break your spine.

If you do, I suggest the best way to get back at it is to give it a really stupid name

Yay scare her some more

I seem to just assume that everyone knows. Was talking to a mum at school yesterday, and she didn't know either (and technically she can see the bump, it isn't like you and my slimline pixelated self )

Flame

I didn't know you were pg either, congratulations! How far along are you? In weeks, not months

Flamesparrow · 07/05/2009 12:45

You think they were giant before - you should see em now! Even mums at school are commenting

Are you the one who posted wedding pics and I commented that you had magnificent norks?

Poledra · 07/05/2009 12:47

Congratulations Flame (on both bump and norks ). Am jealous - DD3, my last baby. is now 9 months and I have to go back to work soon . Too many 'lasts' at the mo.

I'm 17 weeks (or between 17 & 21 weeks according to MN ). I am full of mucus, excretions and other delights.

Plus side though, sickness has been so bad that where google says I should have gained 5-10lb, I am still 5lb less than starting out

Yes MamaG - that is the comment that has always made me most!

Poledra, don't be jealous, I have hyperemesis and antenatal depression, so pretty much a sick covered hysterical mess, it ain't pretty and you're not missing out

TA - yup, you're missing out on so much

Flame, sorry your pregnancy is making you feel so crap - keep in mind that lovely little kidney-bean who'll snuggle into your neck with that lovely newborn's head smell wafting round you.

Was on meds for dentist stuff last night, and it was the first time in weeks that I could remember about all the good things coming at the end

Hello, the reason we've clumped the weeks is that, after checking with doctors and obstetric experts, it wouldn't be accurate to say X happens in week 9, because all pregnancies are unique, obviously, and the rate of the baby's development varies.

So, in a 'normal' pregnancy, you'd expect certain developments around the same time or by a certain point, but it would be misleading to say it was happening in a particular week.

Trouble is, most baby and parenting sites do talk about pregnancy week by week and we want to make sure people find Mumsnet's content!

Rock and hard place scenario. But take your point about it giving the wrong impression of what you're going to get when you see week by week, and will think about whether we need to amend it.
