FREE TICKETS for a headline-grabbing work-life balance event

Would you like a free ticket to attend the "Work-Life Balance: Luxury or Necessity?" event on the January 14th in London (10am to 12pm)?

On the panel will be Julia Hobsbawm, Nicola Brewer of the Equality & Human Rights Commission, Viv Groskop of the Evening Standard - and our very own Justine!

We have about 10 tickets to give away - if you'd like one, just email [email protected] (don't forget to say you're a Mumsnetter).

First come, first served...

Ditto!

And Justine won't make it either - between chicken-pox, her child's class assembly, the boiler break down and the MN sex scandal hitting the Daily Mail front page that morning....

She will manage to teleconference in via her Blackberry of course.

I hope Justine will be taking along all the collective views of MN on Ms Hobsbawm's WL balance.

Arf.

Or maybe fake me a sick note?

Hmmm ..... I think we all need prior advice on how to get that day off work in the first place ....

Aw guys, come on - I need some friendly faces there. I will be putting the MN take across naturally (though perhaps not quite so bluntly as MNetters would )

January 14th 10am - Noon?

Those who work will be working.

Those who stay at home to mind children will be Mumsnetting minding children.

Those who neither work nor stay at home to mind children have no need of a Work Life Balance event.

precisely suedes probably would have got a better uptake if it was at the weekend. But then that's when us working mums are catching up on housework.

I agree it is short notice for anyone who has children, who works or minds children. Did they not consider how difficult this would be for people!!!!

I'm off on the 14th, and it would almost be worth sitting on a train from the wilds of Scotland so I could flick liquorice allsorts at the Frogspawn creature and practice my snurk face .... almost.

To be a bit tolerant of the people trying to organise a work-life balance event, they would also have been criticised for organising one after work (evening pick-up time), evenings (how can parents, especially single parents and those with babies, come out then?) or weekends (don't they understand that weekends is when people see their families and shouldn't be attending conferences?).

And please don't talk about headlice. I dreamed of the little buggers last night. Picking them out incessantly and still finding more.

whomovedmychocolate · 12/01/2009 20:49

I should think headlice have an excellent work/life balance:

9am little nibble
10am hang around on hair
11am lay eggs
12am do a poo on head

repeat.

How was it?

Am dying to know what gems Frogspawn came out with.
