Mumsnet Books - more on the way

A fair few of you have suggested over the last little while that we ought to think about doing some more Mumsnet books and the good news is that indeed we are. We've signed a deal with Bloomsbury to do six in fact - the first of which is The Mumsnet Guide to Toddlers, due out in April 09. And what's more it's being put together by our very own Morningpaper. So irony of ironies - the Mumsnetter who concocted the "Rockets over Lebanon" remark that so irked a certain someone is now writing parenting books. Oh what fun .

Anyway we'll keep you posted with further developments titles etc but for now, as ever, thanks for your input.

You must do a cook book
& maybe a how not to parent book?

Do you need a copy editor? I'm sure Bloomsbury have absolutely none of their own.

Yes Franny, I want FUNNY

To start with I would like to apologise for mis-quoting you all and getting your viewpoints wrong...

It will be hard to be impartial but I will try v. hard.

Basically we want to be an anti-dote to 'one-person baby guru' type approaches which suggest that you can apply one method across the board - so talking really about things that lots of mumsnetters have found helpful.

I know we don't always agree, but there is lots of good advice on these boards if you 'look in the bloody archives' and this is kind of condensing that into chapters (ermmm hopefully).

Obviously there isn't any one-size-fits-all advice but there are lots of times when we say 'right first try this... then try this... then have some gin and cry and give him chocolate buttons...

And hopefully people can come onto MN and ask questions - MN will be live author chat!

What do you reckon?

I am very terrified that I am not really up for the job because you are all wise and marvellous and it is very scary trying to condense that into paragraphs and really do you all justice

You condense what we say marvellously each week, MP (not that I've ever made your hallowed round up ) and I can't think of a better MNer for the job [smarm]. Sounds like one hell of a big job, though.
