Trump thread.........

.......deleted?

Give me strength! Who would report it? And why delete?

They are always the same and nobody goes on them without knowing what they are like..........

I wondered that too Bertrand.
Did anything happen in the last couple of hours before 10pm that made it go poof?
The last I saw there wasn't anything that was worse than previous threads but then I didn't check it for a couple of hours and it went!

The cynical side of me has a suspicion who reported it, and that they have now produced a perfect example of "political correctness" on mumsnet to drag back to their reddit threads....

BertrandRussell · 05/01/2017 09:02

I would quite like Mumsnet to comment though- maybe something reportable happened later on. But to pull the whole thread? It does seem bizarre.

Yes, we've seen comments deleted on the Trump threads before but not the whole thread without warning (unless there were awful comments later - sort of curious about what I missed!)

dibbley · 05/01/2017 09:09

Are they all gone or just the most recent one?

Report
squishysquirmy · 05/01/2017 09:18

Just the most recent one.
There were some insults on there, but most of the ones I saw were pretty childish ones (mainly from one poster) and were not unique to that thread.

Report
BertrandRussell · 05/01/2017 09:26

I can't imagine anyone on the non trump side would have reported, surely?

I caught up on the thread before bedtime and did think that the whole mood of the thread had changed compared to previous threads, with a few insults flying about. And also a GF who was just trying to get a rise out of limo lipstick libs or whatever she called them.

Perhaps it imploded after I fell asleep!

But she's always dropping in!

True! bertrand.... although I think she'd upped the anti somewhat...

Report
Ontopofthesunset · 05/01/2017 10:30

It did get rather more personally insulting towards the end and there was in particular what my son would call 'beef' between two regular posters with opposing views. Very strange since those threads are pretty barmy anway.

Report
BertrandRussell · 05/01/2017 10:39

Well, I was told off for asking the same question too often on the last but one thread, so anything's possible.

May have been reported by a lurker? I don't think anyone from the anti-Trump side would have reported - even if they were being personally insulted - because once you've been sucked in, it's quite frustrating to see a thread zapped.
The insults I saw weren't that bad either - all that limo brittle lipstick libs and hairy feminist stuff is too childish and daft to be seriously bothered by, there was much worse stuff on other threads.
I agree it did get badly derailed (but then so did the others) the last I saw of it was a debate about whether a police presence was necessary at political protest, or whether opposing sides should be left to fight it out. Daft, but not deletion worthy.

If OP has requested the whole thread (and anything related subsequently) to be completely wiped then that is of course absolutely fine.

However, if this isn't the case the Politics and EU Ref threads are known for getting heated and there have been plenty of insults thrown both ways over the last 7/8 months and, if a line has been crossed, a post/thread has subsequently been deleted by HQ and we normally get an explanation of why - this particular thread has just completely disappeared without trace quickly followed by a subsequent one on the same board Shock. Please can we have an update of some sort MNHQ?

squishysquirmy · 05/01/2017 11:30

Agree time4.
Was anyone here on the thread after about 7 pm last night? What happened? Did anyone get an message from MNHQ?

Report
time4chocolate · 05/01/2017 11:38

Squishy - I was lurking on the thread until about 10/10.30pm then got waylaid (dropped off on the sofa Blush) I checked in again about 11.30pm and it had completely disappeared. When I read at 10.30pn it was derailed slightly and there was a discussion about police presence in Cologne and it was a bit heated but, I can't recall anything hugely controversial/insulting at that point, I have certainly read worse over the last few months.

Much as I pretty much disagree with everything Claig says, I can't imagine her throwing a hissy fit and demanding her thread be pulled, so I doubt it was removed at the request of the OP.

Report
BertrandRussell · 05/01/2017 11:54

No, me neither. Part of some plot to show that Mumsnet is part of the politically correct elite, I suspect. I would still love to know who reported me, though........

Claig bless 'er would no way have her own thread pulled! She may have got a bit exasperated weren't we all but she loves her threads too much (this is not me being snidey, it's fact and claig has tenacity and would not just give up)

Intriguing. You can drop into those threads at any time and take off where you left off so intrigued as to what changed.

"Well, I was told off for asking the same question too often on the last but one thread, so anything's possible."

By who, Bertrand???

Ontopofthesunset · 05/01/2017 12:15

There were some pretty personal insults directed at one poster who was also accused of asking the same questions too often too. I posted quite late with an observation that the joking appeared to have become very ad hominem/feminam and the light-hearted banter seemed to have become less light-hearted.

By MNHQ. Proper telling off email. Grin

It was reported by Tony Blair disguised as an owl backed up by the Bildeburg group. Only explanation. Wink

I'd be surprised if Claig reported her own thread too, but stranger things have happened.

Hi all Flowers

The thread had descended after many warnings. We were receiving so many reports, and with all of the holes in the thread, we decided it was best to remove it.

As you're probably aware, we can't mention who reported what.

Feel free to start a new thread but please do post within the Talk Guidelines.

I think having followed a lot of Claig's threads over the months and her interest/passion that this was not of her doing. I am fairly certain she is not one for silencing either - come back Claig!!

Squishy Grin

Bertrand - I was lurking but it wasn't me - would love to see a cut and paste of email to see what a proper telling off looks like Wink.
