Shiny new thread.

Hopefully won't get derailed.

No point IMO.The last thread wasn't really derailed but had some really shocking disablism on it which summed up the issues here.

If it has been deleted just as being derailed and having PAs then that's a real missed point I feel.

Anyway I wish you all all the best in continuing the fight against disablism here.

It's appalling, watching you being told you are over sensitive on other thread for mentioning disablism BBA.

It's a lost fight IMO. Thanks

I'm still going to be Lego Wink

Giving up is what people want. Then they can go back to thinking that as long as they ignore it it's ok.

Well when a stand is made and HQ just delete it due to derailment and ignore the very real issue I feel the battle is lost, people already have what they want here.

I am so sad it got deleted.

I put my heart and soul into tackling disablism. I thought we were getting somewhere.

MNHQ please can you summarised the educational posts about disablism so that we don't have to type it out AGAIN for it to be deleted AGAIN.

Yes it gets gritty but how will we ever move forward if you keep deleting g threads?

Disablism isn't nice and shiny and sweet and light. It's fucking tough.

Anyone who details - the reason you get our wrath for detailing is that you prevent real change from happening and it's just not fair.

MNHQ - you are not being fair.

It wasn't even really derailed either. People were discussing the argument in terms of disablism and making valid points. No way should it have been deleted.

Anyway it's unusual for me but I don't really have much more to say for now. I wish you all the best

That was the second thread in recent months that wasn't actually resolved or responded to by MNHQ
What IS their stand at the end of that one?
There were some fantastic posts on there, it's a bit of a shame it's all be deleted but do you know what? I'm not even bloody surprised.
I'm in the unique position along with alot of you who have posted here, that lives on the peripheral edges of society looking in aghast to what I see and hear and we've not hurt anyone. I'm a bit fed up of being told this is how something is by someone who doesn't know and hasn't lived it. It all goes a bit November spawned a monster.

My morning has been pretty successful though as I switched off :) and I'm going to try and fit in a nap as I've been up since 4! I think you are all brilliant btw

:o at concussion. That is the best auto correct ever. Do you sustain one or cause one? I felt either option might be fair at times..

Thread deleted
Message from MNHQ: Hi all,

Thanks for the many many reports about this thread. We've had a look and it does seem to have been well and truly derailed.

We do think the best course of action is to remove this thread.

Please do start another thread in Site Stuff about the OP but please do stop the personal attacks and nastiness.

Fanjo is right then. Wtf is the point? There were enough constructive posts to reply properly to that thread
I give up.

I agree with fanjo. It got derailed and it got back on track.

I'm sad it was deleted. There was a lot of food for thought in amongst the derailment etc. I'll lurk on this one in the hope of learning more.

Yes it got deleted. I'm bloody pissed off that the detainers got their shits and giggles but there you go. I refuse to give up because that is what they want. One of my best tools in advocating for my children has been tenacity so I'll use it here too.

So here is what was discussed.

Disablism is both overt and covert.

Covert disablism is not always recognisable to those not impacted by disability.

For example:

"My colleague doesn't pull ha weight because he is a carer for his disabled child"

Is disablist.

"How can I support my colleagues so that he can be both a carer for his disabled child and a valued contributor to our team?"

Isn't disablist.

It's often subtle but disablism
Is there.

Some of us can see it and we point it out. Not necessarily to have a ho but to say let's not stereotype, let's stick to what the law says.

Quite often other posters will disagree and say it's not disablist, you are seeing something that isn't there.

That is very annoying.

It's dismissive of our concerns and denying disablism. Jay ci's you can't see it yourself peanut mean other most experienced posters might actually know better. Please do t dismiss or deny us. We are trying to make things better.

What was also discussed.

Please be aware that this is a thread about disablism and done posters may be I
Packed by disability. Pleas bear this in mind when responding.
Please do not deny additional consideration or allowance.
The law says people with disability CAN be treated more favourably.
If you find that makes you feel resentful, that's isn't the thread for you. People who have disabilities/are impacted by disability already have enough crap going on.

Also discussed.

We are knowledgable. We are experienced. We do know what we are talking about.

We are not looking for a fight.

We are looking for solutions.

We will quote examples of disablism
That we see about the boards. We can't discuss disablism on MN without doing that. That is not making it a TAAT or going after an individual poster. It's discussing disablism.

Also discussed

We want MNHQ to address disablist remarks.

We feel disablist remarks are not dealt with swiftly or fairly.

We feel that posts we report are not dealt with I the same way as other isms.

That's how we feel.

Report
Smartleatherbag · 17/10/2016 13:19

That makes perfect sense candy.

Report
CandyMcJingles · 17/10/2016 13:22

For example

"My colleague doesn't pull his weight because he is black"
"My colleague doesn't pull his weight because he is gay"

Gets dealt with

"My colleague if isn't pull his weight because he is a carer for his disabled child"

Isn't dealt with.

People do not use disability as an excuse and it's hurtful and offensive to say they do.
