.....if MN is open in any window, its ridiculous.

As an experiment I tried to log into online banking while it was open and a job that normally takes about 30 seconds took 20 minutes! Back to 30 seconds when MN was closed down. THe Easy Jet ad is also super annoying, the constant sound drives me mad.

Then the other smaller ads popping up at the bottom of the screen......

I appreciate that these ads keep MN free for users, but do they have to be so CPU usage heavy? Is there any way to disable them as it is getting to the point where I am avoiding MN unless there is something specific I want to post/find, rather than browsing as I used to.

I use adblocker on chrome - it's in the extensions. If you google it you should find it

Thanks, am on Firefox and I think there is an adblocker, but it just pisses me off that there are so many ads that this is even necessary!

I'd run a full scan just in case you've picked up some malware...just to be in the safe side.

I have done Pers, its literally just MN that this happens on, and only when those video ads are showing like the EasyJet one.

Sounds dire, adblockers are your friend.

As I said above, laptop and its running W10. No viruses or anything, its just when those ads are running it takes so much CPU that it slows everything else down, it doesnt happen on other websites, just this one!

I'm just finding the ones running down each side of the page really distracting. As I scroll down they jump down the page and it just makes the page seem really congested and it's distracting.

My laptop keeps freezing as I try and scroll through a thread and the adverts load up in the background.

I've been getting this but particularly since my pc upgraded itself to Windows 10 in the summer and there was also an update or service pAck or something that happened a week or two ago.

Whole machine now crawls like I'm forcing it to run through treacle. Happens with lots of sites, not just MN.

Mine gets this with the Easyjet one - at least I think it's Easyjet: Orange background and people riding on bikes. It freezes the whole screen I'm on so I can't scroll. I'm on a laptop on Chrome with Windows 7 I think.

Same problem on a MacBook with Firefox. Admittedly it's an old one, but those ads either side basically make it unusable

I just find that MN is moving very slowly or freezing and to read each page of a thread im having to come out of the site and come back in again.

And when i scroll down to shortcuts there is nothing there ...........just white screen which wont scroll down properly.

I also keep getting unresponsive script. It stopped for a while but it's back now. Means I'm restricted to mn on phone

Some of the adverts which go down the sides of the window seem to be affecting the scrolling of the messages badly, either it is impossible to scroll or it is randomly scrolling up and down (Chrome on a laptop). This makes threads with these adverts unreadable. Either work out how to present these adverts properly or stop using them please? I actually just change the size of the window so I can't see the advert anyway so its not good value for the advertiser.

I've been having the exact same issues; been driving me mad.

As said above, download adblocker on chrome, it really does sort it out. I've just done it (thanks so much to the poster who recommended it) and it's much, much better!

I've just downloaded adblocker as well, sorry MN, I know you depend on advert income, but if the ads make the site unusable everyone is going to block them.

I've switched to my kindle so no adverts and now it's constantly getting stuck. I try and scroll down and it's either frozen or the screen is blank and becomes unresponsive. I've tried to read so many threads today and had to give up. I reload the page and it won't even go to my last bookmarked post even.

Thanks very much for the feedback, we are passing this forward and will get back to you once we know more.

Apologies once again for the annoyance. Flowers
