Hello
As some of you will know, there have been a few kerfuffles over the past few years about how the NHS deals with data and personal patient records. The government has got a new plan and wants to know what people think about it, so we're flagging it up to you.
You can see a bit more detail about the proposals here.
Feel free (as ever) to use this thread to discuss, but if you want your views to be fed into the consultation please do so directly via this link. The consultation closes on September 7.
More details from the Department of Health...
"With the health and social care system becomes increasingly paperless and digital it also becomes more important that there are adequate and robust protections in place to protect the information held within it."
"Dame Fiona Caldicott has proposed 10 security standards to be applied in every health and care organisation that handles personal confidential information. She has also emphasised the vital importance of data sharing and is proposing a new consent/opt-out model, which will give people a less complex choice about how their personal confidential information is used."
"This consultation seeks views on the proposed health data security standards and the consent/opt-outs model. We would like to hear from health and care professionals and organisations and the public."
Thanks
