Protesting deletions on the thread about trans sex offender

I thoroughly dispute that my posts or many of the op's posts were transphobic. I stated several times that people can't change sex and that trans women are male, these are absolute, verifiable facts. Not matters of opinion. And definitely not phobic or bigoted statements. Something has changed in your moderation policy recently and a lot more is being deleted for perceived transphobia which wouldn't have previously. What is happening here? Are we being shut down? Are facts beyond the pale at mumsnet now?

I didn't read all the posts but it's a shame it got derailed by the "you're all man hating transphobes" brigade.

I haven't seen the thread but I have to admit to having had a gutful of the trans debates. If you have a penis you're a male. I'm actually using MN a lot less at the moment because it seems to pervade the site.

I think I was deleted for saying that being physically male but psychologically female isn't possible Hmm
Mnhq this might be accepted wisdom in some circles but it's simply not factual.

I had to fill a form in for the council the other day.

One of the questions was Male, Female or Other?

What the jeff is other?

Bored of the trans thing too.

I haven't seen the other thread, will go and have a look for it. But I have also noticed more deletions lately on trans issues. Can't help but feel depressed that a forum set up mainly for women, and women's issues as mothers, is silencing women's voices in this way. Of course it isn't possible to change sex, you can change your outward appearance of sex to a greater or lesser degree, but you can never be anything other than the sex you were born into and to tell people, particularly children, that you can is a monstrous life damaging lie. I see the lawyer for the above mentioned sex offender said that the man is "Literally a different person now". There is someone who hasn't grasped the correct use of the word "literally" for starters.

Really MN I wasn't transphobic. I don't hate trans people I don't think they are all weirdos or perverts, I think very simply that I am a female because I was born a human with a vagina.

If we can't accept basic biology now and I can get deleted for saying that while I will use your chosen name, your pronouns and happily let you in a toilet, I do not want to see a penis in the changing room? How is that transphobic?

There are posters on this site who claim to be triggered by every mention that tw aren't biologically female but me as a fucking woman on a site designed for women who are also mothers can not say females exist or that I might be triggered by an actual stranger's penis next to me.

FUCK THAT SHIT.

I don't get it either. It's really really easy to understand as well. You cannot change sex. You are either make or female and nowt can change that (yet anyway). You can however change gender if you wish, hence GENDER, not sex, reassignment certificates.

Biological sex is a matter of fact, you can't change it even if you are not comfortable with it. You can wear clothes associated with the opposite sex, you can present yourself in a way more commonly associated with the opposite sex and you can take a name more usually used by the opposite sex. You will not however be the opposite sex no matter how you dress, what you call yourself and what medical interventions you have.

What needs to change is concepts of gender and what is expected of people based on their biological sex rather than deny biology altogether.

I agree with you all and don't think that that post should have been deleted.

Isn't it great? A site used by mainly women us deleting the woman who don't agree that men can become woman, in the true sense. You couldn't make it up. I'm happy to call a transman she, use a female name, don't give a shit what they call themselves. If they still have a penis they are not real women, so therefore I don't want them using a safe female area.

wonders how long it will take fir this woman to have her post deleted for not agreeing that men can become real women

None of mine were deleted but I'm still here to protest the other deletions while the misogynistic claptrap is left to stand. Poor, very poor.

Every trans thread has someone on it referring to posters as vile (seems to be the word of the moment) or men haters or denying people their basic human rights. Or being "transphobic" for not wanting somebody with a penis in female only spaces.
They are never deleted.
But scientific fact is regularly deleted.

It would make sense if they were being sponsored by "fantastic hormones live your womanly dreams" but they are not.

It went poof for them to look closely at it whilst i was typing a reply. Transitioning and having surgeries might make people feel better about their gender dysphoria, and it might be kind to call someone previously known as Bob "she" and "Sally" but that doesn't make Sally female. And of course of society didn't insist that lipstick and handbags and frocks are for women then maybe Bob would be happy going for a pint down the working mens club with his best dress on and nobody would bat an eyelid and we wouldn't have to have this repeated bullshit.

Crazy how facts are now considered offensive, come on mn, you are braver than this. It is not bigoted to state things that are true even if they are controversial.

NickiFury · 03/08/2016 16:43

I'm happy to pretend that men are women if that's what makes them happy and comfortable in themselves, I really am, no issues whatsoever with that. What I am not happy about is being forced to believe it unquestioningly and I think that's what these deletions do. You're denying a voice to one whole side of a debate, what is your justification for this MN?

Report
AnneEyhtMeyer · 03/08/2016 17:11

I despair for my daughter if supposedly intelligent women think it is ok to silence other women for stating facts. Biology is a fact. There is no getting away from it. What future is there when people are called names and vilified for stating indisputable facts?

Dress how you want, have whatever surgery you want, call yourself what you want, I don't care. It is all superficial. You can only be born female, you can't appropriate it and get cross when actual females point out facts.

Report
APlaceOnTheCouch · 03/08/2016 17:21

My posts weren't deleted but it's ridiculous that one poster was able to derail the entire thread, report others, call them man-haters (is that really not against your personal abuse guidelines MNHQ?) and now feel vindicated because of how the thread has been moderated.

The case in question raises important issues. Yy it involves someone who identifies as transgender but it's bigger and more important than that. It does impact on biological women differently from how it impacts men and transpeople and we should be allowed to say that.

I don't usually come into these debates but I will on this one because TBH I am sick to the back teeth of the word trans coming up in every other bloody thread.

MN HQ can't we just ban the discussion of trans issues on MN or create a separate topic so the rest of us can hide it?
