If not and we suspect sock puppetry, do we report it or what?

Yes, report it.

Sock puppeting is not allowed, and should be deleted.

Using more than one name on a thread (especially a long one) isn't necessarilty sock-puppeting tho.

Sock puppeting is not allowed, but sometimes people change name during a thread, which is fine, if it's clear that the two names belong to the same poster.

What's sock puppetry?

Is it where one poster pretends to be more than one person?

What SanityClause said.

She's always so wise and just wonderful. I think she's the best poster on the whole of mumsnet, really.

I've done it by accident a couple of times. In fact one tonight. Nothing horrible or goady or anything. Just that I tend to post via a few names as I know there are people on here that I'd prefer not to "find" me and when posting a reply on s thread forgot who I was.
(I have very few un, I'm not talking 20 & filling up a thread)

Genuine error though MNHQ. Promise Halo

Genuine error = fine. Smile. We turn a blind eye to that sort of thing; it's just when someone's being deliberately misleading that we step in.

I name change all the time so I often end up posting on a thread under different names. Even though I do I wouldn't mind if MNHQ put something in place to stop it. I can't see why there is a need to be able to do it. unless you are to lazy to change back like me

Jasonandyawegunorts · 23/06/2016 08:07

I agree there should be ccode in place to stop it, One name per thread, there is no need to have more than one name on a thread.

Report
NeedACleverNN · 23/06/2016 08:11

Could someone please clarify what sock puppeting is?

Report
Jasonandyawegunorts · 23/06/2016 08:12

Yes, it's when someone name changes or has another account which they use to agree (Or sometimes argue with themselves)
