Can anyonr tell me how long it took them to recover from their c section. I had a c section nearly two weeks ago as my baby was breech. I have two other children aged 6 and 7. Both of these were normal deliveries.
Today I had a check up and found that the wound is infected, which has set me back. I am finding it hard to sit back and do nothing!
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Urs32
first of all congratulations on your new arrival
Secondly, sympathies to you for feeling a bit helpless after a C.
I had 2 and I remember with my second it is very frustrating not being able to resume where you left of with taking care of the first and other kids.
But, I'm afraid to say, the only thing you can do is take it easy. No bending down, no lifting, no reaching and no moving quickly. (I was going to say no running, but that would be a bit of a tall order).
So just take up any offers of help with the kids and the day to day household stuff and sit back. Because the longer you rest the sooner you will be back to normal.

It is a VERY good excuse to spend hours on Mumsnet, in fact that's really when I became addicted.

Sorry you've had a set back, but do take it easy.

Congratulations on your new arrival Urs32. I've had 2 sections and had an infection both times (2 infections 2nd time round actually!) suzywong is right and you do have to sit back and let your body recover. I'd love to be able to sit back and do nothing for a couple of weeks, a couple of hours would be nice too! Try to enjoy the being waited on, it doesn't last for long so I'd make the most of it if I was you

Yep it's true, you really need to have a good rest (sounds like a stupid thing to say to a mum of 3).
I've had 3 sections (no infections thank god) and really had to force myself to take it easy.
Thing is, if you don't take it easy now, you could end up being laid up for longer IYKWIM

Hope your feeling better soon, and congrats on the new arrival.

agree with everything said already.
i had small infection with second section, used neat tea tree oil and it cleared up in no time. also kept a small piece of gauze over wound to make sure it was never damp.

and don't worry, it gets easier
