TAATs and Trolls

I think most of us understand why the usual TAAT rule applies... But in view of ahem recent events, could there be any sort of debrief procedure which could be followed after a thread where many people had invested time and shared harrowing personal information which may help stop the new threads appearing? I think we are on the 4th TAAT which is just about to be zapped and people keep starting them because they feel they should know what has happened. Whether that's misguided or not is another matter... Is there any other way to deal with the fallout from this type of thing?
