Automatic default to Discussions of the day

I've raised this before, but I guess it got lost in all the stuff around the site revamp.

When you click a thread Trending, the system automatically defaults back to Discussions of the Day. Why does it have to do that? Is there any reason why it can't just leave you on whichever one you were last on? It's really quite irritating.

Same for me, but there's no point in me complaining about it. (It would just add Mumsnet to the long list of women who ignore me.)

I love it. I can ignore any bonkers threads in Trending and don't get sucked in.

Oh nooo! :( I much preferred it on DotD and considered it fixed when it started defaulting to that again.

Now it's defaulting to trending which I hate.

I was just coming on here to celebrate the fact that this seemed to have been fixed and thank MN - I hadn't realised it is now defaulting to Trending. Why does there have to be a default at all? Why can't it just stay however we last left it?

Yes why can't it stay on the one we pick?

Trending doesn't even seem the logical choice for it to be on automatically. I mean the page loads Dotd first and then trending flips over.

I have realised since it now defaults to Trending I don't really look at that whole area of the screen for some reason. Before the font and everything else changed I used to hate seeing Trending.

So after my initial 'oh no' it can default to whatever.
