Hi MNHQ,
Just wondering if the OP of this thread

Did you know that men are being given women's awards and leadership positions??
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2581275-Did-you-know-that-men-are-being-given-womens-awards-and-leadership-positions

Is still banned, when their posts haven't been removed and no one can see any reason to ban them?

It would be awful if women's voices were being censored and silenced on the Trans debate, which is happening everywhere else, wouldn't it?

Hi MNHQ, I find it very worrying that this poster has been banned for no reason.

Can you please let us know what's going on?

Hi YouAreMyRain - thanks for your post.

As Helen has explained on the thread, we are in touch with this poster and are seeking to resolve the situation asap. Although there may not be any obvious reason on the boards, there are often things going on behind the scenes that we need to look at.

We didn't remove the thread because we wanted to allow other posters to continue with the debate.

We hope that clarifies things, but do let us know if you have further questions.

A few of us have been in communication with that poster who appears in the dark tbh. Of course she might not be telling us all but on the face of it it seems to be a weird ban and a lack of will to sort it out on your part?

Yes, it would be good to know. MN is such an important space for women and it would be awful to feel that our voices were being silenced just for holding controversial opinions (as opposed to being offensive or breaching guidelines). Thanks MNHQ Flowers

By that I mean that some of our views on this particular topic are held to be deeply offensive by certain groups who appear to have a wider political agenda, when, in fact, we would argue that they are not. We just want to have an open and honest discussion without predjudice on either side. It can feel quite oppressive because our voices are being shut down with no explanation on so many other forums and in the national press, merely for asking entirely reasonable and respectful questions. Just makes you feel a bit paranoid...Confused

It really bothers me that there is a ban in place on this poster. Of course we don't know all of the information but we can only go on what is available to us.

I feel very grateful Mumsnet is such a safe space for debating such an important issue and am worried that this banning indicates a trend in the direction of silencing. I hope I am wrong!

As quite a few of us are in touch with this person in RL, i think it would be appreciated if mnhq shared any concerns with us?

Not to be nosy - I understand of course that they are under no obligation to anyway - but i'm worrying that if hq have valid concerns, a lot of people could be at risk outside of mn. Iyswim?

Yes, MNHQ, you could pm those of us she is in touch with

I don't know this poster or anything about the situation, though I am concerned if this is to do with censoring women's views on the trans issue in general - of course.

One thing though - yes, the thread standing is a valid thing but why are her own posts still there, if she broke guidelines?

I'm getting all anxious now, what if mnhq know she is actually a hairy handed trucker with twentyseven accounts banned already?! And we are talking to her in our real names thnking she is just another mner. Shit

I very much hope that MNHQ will not divulge any information about their communications with a specific poster to other MNetters (regardless of whether they are friends or not) unless that poster asks them to do so (and MNHQ think it's right to come from them, rather than the poster).

Report
BeyondTellsEveryoneRealFacts · 03/03/2016 12:24

Should mnhq not tell people if someone has been banned many times for trolling? I'm not suggesting they give us her personal email or anything?!

I agree.

Personally I would prefer to know if someone isn't what they seem, no personal details have to be given.

Report
Hennifer · 03/03/2016 12:32

There are plenty of people on MN who aren't what they seem. Some of them are just hovering here while MNHQ decides what to do about them.
Even if there's a good deal of evidence to suggest their posts aren't factual or honest.

It's a bit of a spectrum situation I think. Sometimes it's clear cut and malicious, other times it's a bit more complex.

There was nothing wrong with the thread. Scary that MN has banned the OP.

Perhaps some posters who are in touch with her have more idea why than the general MN populace does MyKingdom, and that is why they are expressing unease?
