Site stuff

Are you actually trying to drive us away?

The Audible spider ad.

Why? You could have assumed that 99% of posters would prefer not to see this, and some would be deeply uncomfortable. Yet you have allowed it to go ahead because it's making you money. Like the other noisy, intrusive ads that pop up incessantly.

How long do you think people will continue to use mumsnet if it becomes as annoying as most other talk forums?

Hi lost,

Oh no! Sorry about that. Sad

Where are you seeing the ad? It hasn't popped up for us on the desktop site - if you let us know which device you're using, we'll get our Ads team to investigate as soon as possible.

I'm a little clueless about this...it's a laptop. I use Chrome...

It was on the right, I think when I was looking at active conversations.

It is truly horrific if you don't like spiders.

Thanks lost - if you see it again (from behind the sofa) can you just check whether there's a little blue triangle in the top right corner of the ad? That would mean it's an Ad Choices one - that is, one which is based on your browsing history, rather than us actively planting an ad which is going to scare the living daylights out of half of our members! Grin

Please let us know either way.

I'm pretty sure 99% of posters are not weird about spiders Confused

You could be surprised. And even if it was only 10% of posters who might choose not to watch an enormous spider's legs come creeping out of a tiny ceramic thing, that ought to be enough. Ads are there to encourage us to buy things, not to make anyone feel uncomfortable.

I saw the ad again and it was completely beyond me to look for little blue triangles, sorry!!

I don't personally use audible and it doesn't ever advertise itself to me on any other sites, so I'd suspect it's MN, rather than me.

But please do something about it because I'm unlikely to use the site again until you've sorted it out...if you do sort it out, perhaps you would be kind enough to drop me a message and it will come up in my email.
