otbt - I may be overthinking it but....

I've just advised a poster to move her thread there as there's a high possibility of someone searching for it & it would be best if it remains unseen by said person.

As usual I used the abbreviation otbt so if the random person did search for it they would have a hard time finding it as the topic is not listed by its abbreviations. EXCEPT IT NOW IS!

Would you please consider renaming the topic by its full name, as if someone is trying to find the thread of our poster who is asking for help, then if the thread is moved to otbt but they can't find it in Topics then it may well pass under their radar. As it stands there is absolutely no point in our saying 'move this thread to otbt' if the other person can find it under that exact name in the Topic list.

I realise that the not appearing on Active or in Google is great, & there is certainly a place for that but I think its also worthwhile protecting vulnerable posters by renaming otbt slightly differently & give the vulnerable poster (not secrecy exactly) but another layer of protection if that makes sense?

(of course there may be reasons why you changed the name in the first place but they have passed me by unfortunately).

Hi there! Don't worry - we've seen your post and deleted it so there's no reference to OTBT on there now. We think OTBT in the list of topics is probably a bit less enticing to a non-regular than its full name (also fits better in the list!). And of course, whatever we call it in topics, people will presumably use the same name to refer to it by on threads (and using acronyms isn't exactly the Enigma code anyway) so it's a bit of a toughie with no perfect solution really. People tend to refer to it obliquely without using either name, or use PMs to suggest threads are moved there, which seems to be the best solution. Sorry - no ideal answer really to this one! Thanks for the suggestion on that thread anyway.

I have seen it referred to as 'The Other Place' which is quite cryptic and may not help with the poster you're trying to help does not know about OTBT.
I suppose we could PM a poster we want to encourage to move their thread?
It does need some kind of name, doesn't it? Confused
