Weekends over. Was dire.

I appreciate lots of people wanted to snipe, but I just want to see a functioning website again and would appreciate the discussion being kept open rather than having to start another thread.

You did say yourselves it was important and you wanted it all on the official thread.

Well, troll-hunting is allowed on some threads, as long as it's all in the spirit of great fun, apparently, because we all know (allegedly) that lots of threads are made up.

So I'm very confused.

the double standards are glaring and disgusting.

as long as MNHQ think its funny, it can stay.

not happy.

I believe the conversation is closed, we're only meant to talk on the OFFICIAL thread which can't be reopened, because MNHQ have important things to discuss.

have they not re opened it? they need to step up and so something.
I am really pissed that a thread yesterday about a person with sn was not real. how low will a troll go?

The troll-hunting rules were made a mockery of yesterday on Marbles thread. Is it ok, isn't it. Does it depend whether the OP can take care of themselves? Or whether the thread is funny? There's no guidance and MNHQ are silent today

Is this about the thread about the jet setting Boyf and the dog and graham norton. Was it a troll?

SplatTheScaryCat · 27/10/2014 15:55

thats the thread, but its not about the op, its about the posters troll hunting on it.

other threads get deleted for troll hunting, but apparently that ones fine because EllenMNHQ thinks its funny.

Seems as long as you make HQ laugh, the fucking rules dont apply, its just those of us asking serious questions get deleted if people troll hunt on our threads.

Well you know if they delete threads then they're censoring and stopping folks from having an innocent laugh and if they don't delete threads then they're allowing the trolls to run rampant.

At least being damned if you do and damned if you don't is nice and seasonal for Halloween where the damned arise!

Do you remember the 'I want to lick my bosses chest' one? That was left up even though it was found to be a troll. They deleted subsequent threads but left that one coz it woz a laff.

They also left the yoni one up for the same reason.

So ... I don't think they're being too inconsistent. If it's funny they leave it up, even if it's a troll.

The thing is, that one was obviously made up from the start (very like a lot of threads here a while ago, and not the only one by that poster atm, imo) - after 850 posts everyone seemed to suddenly realised it, though mnhq are still indicating they "have no reason to believe, yada, yada, yada" Hmm

It was reported very early - it's been on my TIW for over a week.

But if it had gone nasty after 100 posts, with the op possibly being in "trouble" and "needing" rl help, anyone asking questions, giving a warning to lurkers and naive posters not to get involved etc, would have been accused of being a nasty troll-hunter who should be banned from the site and would have been roundly abused.

There are many, many made up threads on here - ones that are completely fictitious. And yet when we have a "let's talk about troll-hunting" thread the same people come along and insist that Every Single Poster be believed, always. Even if believing everyone means a lot of people getting hurt.

This is the problem - even mnhq don't know who (if anyone) is telling the truth. And these days in relationships it appears very few people are.

I have no problem with "fun" threads by the way.

It's the side-by-side insistence (by some posters as much as MNHQ) that no-one can ask questions because we must always believe the op AND the general assumption that loads of threads are made up that pisses me off.

Not to mention the number of real people with real problems whose threads disappear and who get ignored by all the do-gooders feeding the trolls.
