Sorry, HQ, but ditch the Haven wrap around advert. Zombie literally can barely read posts on the site now.

Zucker Mon 24-Mar-14 00:32:33

It's dreadful, I hate how it looks. Like Zombie I can hardly read the posts with the new ads.

showtunesgirl Mon 24-Mar-14 00:34:04

Absolutely agree with Zombie. <cooee Zombie>

BrikSchittHaus Mon 24-Mar-14 00:34:24

depending on which internet browser you use, you could download an add on such as adblock, with it you don't see any advertising at all, this leads to a completely "clean" page. I use adblock with firefox if that helps

IamtheZombie Mon 24-Mar-14 00:37:21

Brik, Zombie HAS adblock for Firefox. She has had for years. It doesn't block this though.

Hi ya, Showy. wink

AchyFox Mon 24-Mar-14 00:38:15

I am so distracted I've forgotten what I was going to post.

IamtheZombie Mon 24-Mar-14 00:39:30

Zombie may have tweeted Justine, Rebecca and Rowan about this...

Zucker Mon 24-Mar-14 00:44:56

Okay so I've added adblocker onto firefox and it's doing nothing. All the ads are still there. What am I doing wrong?

BrikSchittHaus Mon 24-Mar-14 00:45:39

crikey okay, that's a little confusing, I have the same settings and there's no sign of the ad. would it be worth checking that the software is up to date and fully enabled?

IamtheZombie Mon 24-Mar-14 00:52:07

Zucker, if you've only just added it you may need to close Firefox and then open it again to activate adblockplus.

Brik, Zombie keeps it updated and fully enabled.

Zucker Mon 24-Mar-14 00:52:35

ohhh hold the phone, I had to individually add them to the filter and hey presto they're all gone. Lovely and shiney again smile

BrikSchittHaus Mon 24-Mar-14 00:59:31

glad it's working for you zucker, it was a bit of a revelation when I first started to use it, everything indeed looks so shiny and clean! grin

the adblock toolbar may offer some additional options to individually filter but if not, I'm no expert so can't offer other solutions, hopefully the chaps at MNHQ will be along shortly with an alternative

IamtheZombie Mon 24-Mar-14 01:13:25

Zombie is off to bed. She'll be back tomorrow but if these Japanese knotweed adverts are still here it may not be for long.

mathanxiety Mon 24-Mar-14 04:39:19

The ads are hurting my eyes. They've just appeared this evening.

And I have another thread here on Site Stuff with a problem I am having trying to PM people -- I get taken to a Haven / Mumsnet page when I click 'send' or press 'enter' anywhere in a PM. The PMs are lost in space. I mention that here because it's Haven ads that are making my eyes itch on the margins of my screen.

soapnuts Mon 24-Mar-14 04:44:38

and everytime i click on Active convos on the talk bar I get taken to Haven site.... it's happened about 15 times now..... sooo annoying!!

I can zoom in so, although the words are annoyingly large, the sides disappear. MNHQ, I know it's a free site and you need to make money for gin and biscuits but it is horrible. I clink on a link every now and then to make you some moolah so can't we just agree to do that and lose the sidebars?

LoveBeingCantThinkOfAName Mon 24-Mar-14 04:52:30

This is why I use my crappy old mobile still wink

fideline Mon 24-Mar-14 05:18:40

Zombie is right. V annoying.

shopafrolic Mon 24-Mar-14 08:21:25

Please get rid - just awful

KateSMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 24-Mar-14 12:01:17

Hullo folks,

Sorry about this, the ads should be gone now?

shopafrolic Mon 24-Mar-14 12:14:01

Yup - gone for me thanks

fideline Mon 24-Mar-14 12:28:52

Yes. Gone. Much better.

IamtheZombie Mon 24-Mar-14 12:38:54

Yes, Zombie can read the threads again.

Thanks, KateS.

mathanxiety Mon 24-Mar-14 12:43:09

Gone from mine and thank you.

How about the PMs redirecting to Haven / Mumsnet?

KateSMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 24-Mar-14 12:50:50

Hurrah!

PMs seem to be working for me, is anyone else still having trouble?
