Porny 'serve ad' pop up/web page opening from an MN thread.

I was just on a thread and a porn/hook up page opened up.

I have all the regular MN ads down the right side and the box that has ads that are generated by your own google searches.

Im using a laptop that is very new and that only I have access to. I know that sometimes these things happen because of the user search generated ads, but I can 100% guarantee I havent been on any sites like that! I may have 'clicked' on something on the page, this laptop mousepad sometimes 'clicks' on things as you slide your finger across rather than actually tapping on it.

Maybe this happened because of another website Ive visited, but I can't think of any sites Ive been on that would do that?

I can link the thread I was on and the page that came up if necessary.

It quite possibly is something to do with my laptop, but thought Id highlight it just in case it is MN related.

Sounds like there are quite a lot of pop-ups. At least two porny ones plus the 'survey' ones. I wish we could find the common denonimator - if there is one and the site doesn't have several weaknesses.

i got a screen shot.. free naughty dating. I have to admit that the boobys don't really do it for me.

www.smashyourfriends.co.uk is the thingy.

I got this too.

MistressOfTheUniverse Sat 15-Feb-14 21:56:55

I just got this too!

Yes, it was smashyourfriends

Fruitiest thing seen on my sole-use laptop grin Usually it's Mn, BBC news, Twitter, FB, Buzzfeed, online shopping...

I had a problem with popups recently, and it turned out to be an add-on to my browser that my DS had installed. I disabled the Ads By PassShow add-on (I think it was in the Tools menu, but am not on a PC at the moment to check), then found it installed in my Control Panel list of installed programmes.

Some MNers also recommended malwarebytes, which cleaned up some other bits and pieces.

There's a clear message there.

Corral all DSs!

Awww, cozie, he's not yet 6! He still thinks breasts are only for feeding babies. smile

cozietoesie Sat 15-Feb-14 22:22:16

Give it a couple of years and he'll be looking up sites for fast cars and bikes. (They look up those because they think it'll be OK on 'Mom's computer' - but the bad guys know their behaviour patterns real well so those sort of sites are loaded with naughties which can be easily downloaded.)

Vigilance, Renter, vigilance.

Thanks for that. I imagine a child's own login/account is the way to go, although I'm not looking forward to it all...

I got the pop up last night and again just now.

here it is

Apparently it will put me in touch with local horny girls who want to meet and smash hmm I'd rather watch Dancing On Ice and have a choc digestive so think they're wasting time on me ...

if it's any use for Tech.

AmberLeaf Sun 16-Feb-14 20:26:56

Thats the one!

24yearslivingnextdoortoalice did it just pop up without you clicking anything too?

Thanks to your username, guess what I can't get out of my head now grin

bakeroony Sun 16-Feb-14 20:29:29

I got the smashyourfriends one popping up too.

Thought it was a virus, but my PC seems clear!

I just got something similar. A new tab opened up, something about 'horny smashers' grin and lots of photos of topless women.

The cursor was over the left-hand side of the screen, not even near a banner ad or anything. Very odd.

cozietoesie Sun 16-Feb-14 20:46:53

Neither of the ones I got were that one. I guess their website has lots of front pages though.

AmberLeaf Sun 16-Feb-14 20:55:53

cozietoesie, yes the original page I got was slightly different. when someone said what the site was earlier I looked at it and it was another different front page then too.

AmberLeaf Sun 16-Feb-14 20:56:59

What do ya know, I just got the pop up again while I was on 'threads im on'

ChineseFireball Sun 16-Feb-14 21:20:31

I've just had it too. I usually have active convos open and right click - open in new tab (browser is firefox and OS is Windows 8 <shudders>) and piiiing. Boobies.

24yearslivingnextdoortoalice Sun 16-Feb-14 21:22:32

AmberLeaf - yes it just popped up without me clicking on anything.

lovestea Sun 16-Feb-14 21:43:25

I just got another one. Different from the last time, but same kind of format/picture. Smashmyfriends.com. Did not click on anything, It came up as a new webpage while on MN. I am the only one that uses this laptop, my firewalls and security all look safe and working, and I do not visit porn, unless you include recipe sites!

lovestea Sun 16-Feb-14 21:44:18

I'm using Firefox.

AmberLeaf Sun 16-Feb-14 21:45:19

Are we all using firefox? Im also on windows 8 <boo>

MissieEverdeen Sun 16-Feb-14 22:00:22

I've also just had "free naughty dating - smash your friends" open in a new tab when I pressed the back button on a Chat thread!

MissieEverdeen Sun 16-Feb-14 22:02:45

Here's the URL

http://www.smashyourfriends.co.uk/?page=x2&wm_login=mundo1&ps=p&type=soi&k1=CD10313&uid=c3f1c0cbf71702de78cc9e45d9cb2012&k2=

Not impressed at all - running a full scan now

lovestea Sun 16-Feb-14 22:08:17

I did a full scan too Missie. It did not show a problem. Why are these pop ups/new tabs happening? They are now logged in my laptop history which I am not happy about.
