How do you tag someone in a thread?

I've noticed in the Christmas present swap thread that people are being tagged so they know others want their gifts.
Tried @ before the name a la Facebook but that didn't seem to work.

If so you put a * around each end of the name.

There is no tagging on MN. It's just bolding the name so it stands out, as lougle just said.

Hello, we are actually working on a tagging feature as we speak, so you soon (hopefully) will be able to use @username and that person will get a message if you so wish (and if they so wish).

Take a look at this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2807531-New-feature-mentions. The new tagging system has been running since December. You can opt out of it though!
