Anyone else being repeatedly asked to save a file called seg.js from ib.adnxs.com?
I've run a virus scan and it was clean, and this is ONLY happening on mumsnet.
No way I'm downloading anything I didn't directly click on by the way.

Me too, whats going on?

InkySkink Wed 14-Aug-13 20:21:33

I think it may be a virus in the ads.
From what I saw when I Google it.

nothruroad Wed 14-Aug-13 21:14:36

I'm getting that too - only on MN.

MissFenella Wed 14-Aug-13 21:17:18

It sounds like a javascript file. I wouldn't download or install it. Sounds like it's a plugin for an ad, but it could be sneaky malware.

You may want to report your OP asap so that tech sees it!

It seems like the ads are getting worse on here sad I currently have adblocker installed and I usually whitelist mumsnet since so much of their revenue comes from ads, but I had to activate it again when there was a creepy ad which would start playing music about 5 minutes after I'd loaded a page! I was going to deactivate it again but now I've seen this I think I'll hold off.

Malwarebytes I would download and scan pc to see if you have picked up any nasties.I always use adblock so never see any ads.

ImperialBlether England Wed 14-Aug-13 21:39:00

I'm getting this, too! I did as Chanatan said and it said there was a virus which it's got rid of. Time will tell whether the pop up will stop.

Thanks for the recommendation, Chanatan.

oh dear that doens't sound good.
Let me find out what's occurring.

JacqueslePeacock Wed 14-Aug-13 21:41:05

There are complaints about this on the systweak thread as well...

Chanatan Wed 14-Aug-13 21:41:35

Olivia I had a quick google and something similar happened on Pistonheads a while back,it was ad related.

ImperialBlether England Wed 14-Aug-13 21:43:25

What's occurring? Are you in Gavin and Stacey?

mrstalbear Wed 14-Aug-13 21:47:16

Second of all, please can you tell us WHAT the ad is that you're seeing when being asked to download weirdy stuff?

I had this too.
I'm using IE, but not sure what ad was on screen.

SPBisResisting Wed 14-Aug-13 22:25:48

Yes just pops up at the bottom of the screen.
Internet Explorer

Trigglesx Wed 14-Aug-13 22:33:52

IE, yes, only on MN pages and have been getting it all evening. Had no idea it was linked to an ad, so no clue what ad. Just pops up when changing pages on MN.

Do you know which topics youre on?

Yes, Internet Explorer. Haven't noticed it being connected to any particular ads.

GetStuffezd Wed 14-Aug-13 22:45:42

Yes I'm getting it too! For days. Only MN. Apparently randomly. It's when I'm on laptop, using IE.

thornrose Wed 14-Aug-13 22:45:44
