Can't name change.
Can't start new post in Chat.

AAAARGHHHH

Well what happwns when you try ti start a thread

trincomalee Mon 08-Jul-13 13:47:29

Umm, I can't start nuffink (as I said in OP).

Alternatively, I get nonsense (as per SPB post). grin

But when you say you cant start a thread, what happens.do you click the "start new thread" butto ? What happens then?

trincomalee Mon 08-Jul-13 13:59:26

yup, obviously my fault, don't know what the prob was earlier. Sorry. blush

trincomalee Mon 08-Jul-13 14:32:32

OK, I've still got a problem. Perhaps it's just me, but what I mean is this:

I go to 'MyMumsnet'.

Then I get 4 options, among which is 'My account'.

I click on this and then I have a box saying 'email address'. Obviously, this box then gives my details.

The box under that says 'Username', and this gives my current username (i.e. trincomalee'). HOWEVER, I cannot then click on this username and change it.

I'm sure I used to be able to do this (i.e. click and change name).

I'm doing something wrong, I know!

<has fit of vapours and lies down>

BOF Mon 08-Jul-13 14:34:17

Yes, you are.

You need to go to My Registration and change it there.

And then send lovely MNHQ some Pimms for being rude grin

trincomalee Mon 08-Jul-13 14:40:45

Now I can see that under 'your nickname history' I can click and find nicknames that I have used (or booked) in the past. BUT I can't see how I can dream up a completely new nickname, if I want to do that.

I'm sure there's a way to do this, and I'm just being dim, aren't I?

<sniffs laudanum and lies down again>

BOF Mon 08-Jul-13 14:45:45

Just click in the box with your current username, delete it,mand type in whatever you like. I suggest TechnicallyChallenged wink

Fenton Mon 08-Jul-13 14:47:48

It's not MNHQ. It's you.

Fenton Mon 08-Jul-13 14:49:10

Yes BOF, or

or

SoItTurnsOutIAmBeingDim

trincomalee Mon 08-Jul-13 14:50:12

BOF
I aren't! <channels any Dickensian character wot you can think of> Because I didn't ask if IBU.

However, I accept that I might have been just a tad rude. And for that, MNHQ, despite the fact that it's taken me a while to work it out and even though I hate you for making me engage my brain I apologise and proffer flowers flowers

Fenton Mon 08-Jul-13 14:50:18

I'm not usually this unhelpful.

It must be the heat.

trincomalee Mon 08-Jul-13 14:53:50

BOF
and Fenton

I accept that if this were AIBU
I might be exceptionally U

<sniffs a la Lynda Snell>

trincomalee Mon 08-Jul-13 15:00:18

AAAND
there is no 'My registration' choice in the Mumsnet box at the top of the page.
Unless I'm going bananas (which is of course quite possible).

BOF Mon 08-Jul-13 15:46:17

Oops, you're right- they've changed it!

My account (you may need to re-log in)

Change name in username box

Re-input password near the bottom.

Click to save.

Then report back!

MmeLindor Mon 08-Jul-13 15:47:46

They have changed it, but I managed to namechange earlier so it must just be you being rude

Fenton Mon 08-Jul-13 16:37:32

Okay, I've decided to be helpful now (have had an icecream)

My Account

(you may have to now login again as who you are now)

In the Username box highlight and type over or manually delete and type in a new name

Further down the page you have to put in your password again

Then further down click save.

This should be it. If not trying closing the browser and going back in.

If what you are saying is you can't click in that Username box and tap tap tap delete trincomalee and tap tap type in a new name, then yes you are indeed stuffed and need help from MNHQ.

ohwhatagrumpything Mon 08-Jul-13 16:40:03

OK, done it (as if you're interested!). It did seem a less straightforward way of doing things, but I guess that was just me being useless.

(And I changed my name to this purely in order to annoy Chaos.)

Eyesunderarock Mon 08-Jul-13 16:41:07

'yes you are indeed stuffed and need help from MNHQ.'

That's if they'll talk to you.
Or perhaps you are now query number 476,981 and will be dealt with in November.

Tee2072 Mon 08-Jul-13 16:42:35

What is with all the anti-HQ crap lately??????

Eyesunderarock Mon 08-Jul-13 16:42:49

Oh good, self-help. Always the best way.
You do sound very like my teenager, everything is someone else's fault when he can't manage equipment. grin

ohwhatagrumpything Mon 08-Jul-13 16:43:59

Fenton: Where, just WHERE, is my bloody ice-cream, you absolute cow?

AAANNDD I still maintain that the old way was easier.

Not that I am ever against change, and all that. Oh no.

ohwhatagrumpything Mon 08-Jul-13 16:47:37

Eyes, yes I look forward to November at the very soonest. Because, Tee, my posts make it so clear how very much in earnest I am.

Fenton Mon 08-Jul-13 16:50:49

The new way isn't difficult, just different.

Oh, and you're welcome.
