In the car, on the way to something, listening to R4, and come across Justine holding forth on ....

Football

Not mumsy stuff, but football. And genuinely knew her stuff, too

Impressed

AND Carrie was on the Jeremy Vine show talking about Fergies retirement!

It was a good result for Arsenal last night. I think we'll do ok against Newcastle, Wigan will probably be harder though.

Fully expecting David Moyes to be announced as new Man Utd manager today.

olgaga Thu 09-May-13 01:01:47

McKayz Hadn't seen that one, it's really weird. Do you think maybe his contact lens slipped or something!

And by the way, I'm sure you're crowing tonight that I had the anticipated Pffft feeling. But I don't fancy you against Wigan, or Newcastle. grin.

I thought I was the only person that had heard it. I came in half way through and thought 'That sounds like JustineMumsnet, it CAN'T be, I am obviously far too addicted' smile
But it was YOU! Very entertaining and funny and clever, too.

I love that Olgaga.

I know Mick McCarthy is no Fergie but this is great

olgaga Wed 08-May-13 16:37:58

Sir Alex Ferguson swears at a balloon.

My favourite Fergie moment. grin

olgaga Wed 08-May-13 16:33:23

I think it'll be Moyes too BTW. They work the same way - expect to run the show, like each other, do a wee bit of business together every season.

However, I'm hoping it will be Jose for the simple reason it would piss off the Chelsea faithful (pre-emptive revenge for tonight) - and of course it'd be great for the PL wink.

As a City supporter, I'm rather pleased at today's newswink

I knew I liked this site for a reason.

<polishes Liverpool badge>

Olgaga, I really hope you do go pffffft!! Arsenal fan here!!

IamtheZombie Wed 08-May-13 15:20:24

Zombie is but a humble lower leagues sort of Zombie. She supports Shrewsbury.

Wuldric Wed 08-May-13 15:13:44

I like Justine's thinking of an automatic red card for Arsenal fans. Clearly going to be popular. A new emoticon may even be required.

Tee2072 Wed 08-May-13 15:09:02

Yes, Zombie forget all that lovely stuff and pick a damn team!!!

grin

Not that I could tell you anything about teams. Or football. American Football, maybe...

olgaga Wed 08-May-13 15:07:35

Spurs fan here.

sad Looks like we're about to do the usual end-of-season pfffffft.

You know, this is one of the main reasons Zombie loves MN so much. The entire HQ staff from Justine on down will enter in dialogues with us on serious things and have a larf with us on less serious ones.

That's why the MN community feels more like a family than a group of random strangers.

Yeh, yeh, yeh but... Arsenal or Liverpool?

Wouldn't that be unfair dismissal? I mean, she hasn't even gotten a yellow card yet!*

*Tee proves that she's down with the football talk.

No, you can get a straight red for seriously unprofessional conduct/dangerous play. And to be frank I think we're in that kind of territory.

2 questions:

What language are you all speaking?

And

Is Helen's next performance review going to go badly?

grin

She's hanging on by a thread, let me tell you grin

I would hope that his retirement and the associated 'blip' that might occur as everyone adjusts to a new era at Man U. might work to the advantage of some of the other Premier League Clubs (for a year or so...).

Who will have the confidence to fill his shoes though?

JustineMumsnet (MNHQ) Wed 08-May-13 10:16:13

Bookies have Mourinho marginally as favorite over David Moyes - who's out of contract at Everton at end of this season and good friend of Fergie. I'd go for Moyes on balance but that may be wishful thinking. <God help us if it's Mourinho>

UnChartered Wed 08-May-13 09:39:04

turning the conversation a little, Justine, who's your tip for the new Utd manager?

HelenMumsnet (MNHQ) Wed 08-May-13 08:07:40

She supports the wrong team, though. Just sayin'
