I am a bit miffed that a thread was deleted today 'for the OPs privacy' when it was blatantly because the OP got a bit of (pretty reasonable and mostly civil) stick and didn't like it. They hadn't given a load of identifiable details, they were just having a huff.

It really spoils it when whole threads disappear Sad grumblegrumble

OP posts:

OOh, that IS annoying.
Which thread was it? Grin

Sunnywithshowers · 27/04/2013 00:39

Was it the 'my boyfriend fell into his ex's fanny not wearing a condom, and she may want maintenance for the resulting bebeh?' Grin

Report
ThePendant · 27/04/2013 00:39

Was that the "it is fine for my boyfriend to abandon his unborn child" thread?

What's gone on?

There never used to be so many deleted threads. Can you just ask to have a thread deleted now if it doesn't go your way?

K8Middleton · 27/04/2013 00:57

Op has been a twit should do it.

Or

thread deleted due to op realising she has been a bit of a tit

Report
usualsuspect · 27/04/2013 01:00

Was she just trolling? I didn't read the thread. I can with half the dramatic threads on here. [Jaded]

aparently so usual

i posted about this same issue in sitestuff last week and got a 'we messed up this time' response from HQ but they do it quite alot tbh and 'we messed up' doesn't really wash with me.

it's very obvious when it happens because an OP doesn't like the responses. why dont HQ just say "we deleted at OP's request" and leave it at that? we're not children or stupid, we know there were no privacy issues.

oh that was in response to "Can you just ask to have a thread deleted now if it doesn't go your way?"

I get you booy

Report
flowery · 27/04/2013 06:35

Yes I was very unimpressed. Absolutely no justification for getting it deleted whatsoever. Puts people off contributing to threads where the OP might strop about the responses.

I was on the thread booyhoo his talking about. And I like her do not understand the deletion message. Nor the response she got on her thread in ere, which did t actually explain why that particular thread was deleted.

I saw that thread and didn't post on it. But I thought the op was rather smug in her "I've asked for it to be deleted sorry to stop the conversation"

Plus, and I said this the last time. I asked for a tread to be deleted. I was being advised on the thread to get it deleted. I was getting attacked my posters and it made me cry. It made a difficult situation much worse. And I still can come close to tears thinking about one thi g that was said.

I reported 3 times. In the end I was told to let it drift off active convoys and they weren't going to delete. It was in chat so it will go eventually but I don't understand why it wasn't deleted. I requested, others on the thread had told me it needed to go, I had horrible horrible nasty comments and I made me cry. Yet I just got a "it'll go eventually". Why?

Report
exoticfruits · 27/04/2013 06:53

I got the same, Freddie, but they wouldn't delete mine either. It was getting other people upset but I was just told I had to hope it would sink off active conversations.

That was such a miserable thread! Without trying to sound melodramatic, I feel so sorry for the baby. That was quite a tangled mess of BS.

And I can't believe they deleted it either...because the deletion message wasn't why they deleted it Confused

Exotic - we obviously can't do the requisite standard of hissy fit Grin

Joking aside I really don't understand it. I know there's different hq'ers at different times but the level of inconsistency is getting to be very noticeable.

TheOrchardKeeper · 27/04/2013 06:59

People's reactions were quite heated but there weren't many personal attacks/troll hunters & just a lot of people with the same opinion (which was pretty fair considering the issue at hand).

Hmm

PoppyAmex · 27/04/2013 07:01

I agree. I was on that thread and there were no personal attacks or privacy leaks; if anything the OP was the aggressive one talking about hitting the ex-wife and calling all the posters "thick".

Very depressing thread anyway; felt sorry for the unborn baby and for her own children.

Report
TheOrchardKeeper · 27/04/2013 07:03

I forgot about the 'thick' comment.

Surely that should've been deleted, non? Grin

Sorry for the hijack but what happened to the 'am I a bad mother because I'd be more upset if my husband died than if my children died?' Thread?

Report
Freddiemisagreatshag · 27/04/2013 07:12

It went pfft too I think. I reported it and didn't post on it - it didn't seems right from he off to me

Report
exoticfruits · 27/04/2013 07:15

I think that MNHQ are a bit lazy about giving a reason as to why it was deleted and just shove in a standard response about privacy. There was one that was deleted with that message that bothered me greatly, I contacted them and wrote about it on a thread and then got an apology and it had been deleted for an entirely different reason.
I don't know why the 'loving the DH more than children' thread was deleted when there had been one 'I love my DCs more than DH' which ran and ran.
