Ok but to be fair, that was the response a couple of weeks ago when a troll started a thread about me around 11 o' clock at night and didn't disappear until gone 9.30am the next day...after it had reached 1000 posts.

It was also the response long before that

I understand these things take time, but a site this big is going to attract the attention of many knob heads I fear...especially if they know there's 'untweaked' moderation at night.

Well they do now if you've started a thread about it and MNHQ confirm it.

Rubbish. This thread isn't going to 'give the game away' to trolls. You only have to take a cursory look round the site, if you are so minded, to see that it's obviously not moderated at night.

I think it's a great shame that there isn't someone on night duty or even someone on an early shift to take down crap that gets posted over night.

Dingle I'm not the first person to mention this...not by a long shot.

It's an issue that seems to get worse and worse - mostly at weekends.

I'm not so much cross Helen...more worried about how long the tweaking is taking.

The point here is the worrying lack of moderation at night.

But really, what is the worst that can happen? A few silly threads that can just be deleted in the morning? I think you are overreacting a tad

I find that late night posters tend to be more aggressive, and less likely to have measured and moderate views. However, I also find that saying to someone that they are making personal and hateful attacks and are being offensive usually shuts them up - or at least shows some support to the person being abused.

I'm sorry you had to go through that Worra. Pixels on a screen can hurt..

Maybe mn needs mods?
I'm a mod on another board, and find some posts on here bannable offences, and yet no one even reports the poster. It's made me less likely to post actually: and doesn't do mn any good either. <these may be related factors>

It was just a recent example is all.

There were many more I could have given but it would have taken more thought, to remember how long they were left up for.

dingle it's not about the thread about worra so much which she handled brilliantly btw but there is a particularly nasty rape thread up now whih appeared last night. I'm sure you can imagine this is going to upset a lot of people so I don't think this is an over reaction

Why can't you employ someone in Oz or New Zealand, and put them on the payroll?

I have no idea how many people reported the awful rape thread last night. But perhaps at 300 reports of the original post the thread locks and is hidden until actual moderation occurs in the morning.

Small message left in TiO or TiW stating "Thread locked pending moderation".

I mean I'm working on the assumption that most threads even if a bit goady or close to the bone in terms of guidelines won't have had the numbers reporting that the "yourname111" threads did.

I have a child allergic to sleep I can night moderate most of it would be incoherent tho...

Still, having threads like that will change the flavour of the site for the worst.
And, unfortunately, not everyone is so robust. Cyber bullying in any form is unacceptable to me, as it's a lot more pernicious then real life bullying due to its 24/7 nature.
