App vs Opera (or your fav mobile browser)

What is the basic motivation for the MN app ?

Do decent mobile browsers (eg Opera) not work very well ?

Does anyone use Opera and wonder what all the fuss about the app is ?

Just wondering, since the app feedback isn't wholly positive.

Sometimes an App works better, sometimes not. Someone elsewhere has suggested italics don't work on Opera on mobile (but only cos a person was asking about italics... maybe a few other oddities too). I think there are some advantages when using a web browser, but it comes down to personal taste so stick with Opera if you prefer.

(I've pretty much stopped looking on mobiles, and only rarely on tablet, as a desktop PC / laptop just has so much more space to read a thread easily, so I may not bother much with the App and could uninstall it to make space of more important Apps...)

Just saw an Apple user asking about smileys and in their app it is easy to just click on them.

Hardly any effort to key in the code, though, really... when using a browser

I only use a PC too.

But wondered what all the buzz about the app was given that it seemed a bit buggy and that Opera mobile performs pretty well.
