Hello.

Given the amount of, erm, interest the Asda Christmas ad has generated on Mumsnet in the past few days, we thought it would be interesting/fun to find out how you all feel about the .

Do tell!

Depressing as ever. Sad

Long. I prefer a bit of 'bounce' in a Christmas Ad, but it is cute :)

Love it! Kind considerate snowman gets scarf for person he loves, who has been sadly left bereft.

Well I was quite enjoying the haunting, evocative introduction to the song until I realised it was the deeply cheesy 'Power of Love'. Some of the photography and rendering is beautiful but there's not much product on show except a saggy pair of gloves and an oversized beret. It doesn't inspire me to go to John Lewis for my Christmas shopping so in that sense it's failed I suppose.

At least Aled Jones isn't singing though!

I love it and I hope it inspires some previously thoughtless/lazy men into actually making an effort with present buying :o

I liked it, but am not a fan of bouncy bouncy Christmas ads anyway - and the version of Power of Love is fab.

Asda otoh... Christmas seems to bring out a huge amount of sexist assumptions and cliches generally though

I love it. No wonder they couldnt afford a Waitrose ad.

Please note snowmans grim determination face at 25 seconds in. My husband looks exactly like this on Christmas Eve when he sets out to town, coming back with the first unsuitable hat and glove set he can lay his hand on.
Therefore much more realistic than asda ad in our house at least.

It does glorify shoplifting though, that snowman clearly had no money in his frosty pockets!

And it's so bloody hot in John Lewis I don't reckon he'd have made it into the accessories department, through the long Christmas queues and back out before he started dripping all over the floor.

BedHog he just took the items off the mannequin in the window with a bit of help from Aled Jones, who just happened to be passing whilst singing "We're walking in the air"

Fuck me I'm an emotional wreck.

It makes me want to go to Wales. Not Oxford Street.

I want to embed video in my posts

Very cute :) I was prepared to hate it as it seemed grey and joyless but the expressions on the snowman's face and the positioning of him are fabulous!

Aled was complicit in the robbery?!!! Shock

Think Songs of Praise might be having words.......

Hat,glove and scarf set, the most boring present ever, other than a bale of beige towels, which would of been a little more logical.

nice mountain.

Mr frosty is passive aggressive and clearly needs to work through his ishoo's. Instead he goes on a massive journey in order to bring back implements of torture guilting Ms Frosty into put them on as he tells her all about his hard time fetching them whilst she forces a smile and feels the slow agonising death caused by the toasty hat scarf and gloves
snowperson + warmth = puddle
