Boden: I ordered through Mnet but they're refusing to give me the free 'gift'

I know this is really petty but.....

Back in February Boden had an offer of free p&p, free returns and free stripey scarf for orders over £125. I ordered several new shirts for DH (definitely more than £125). The shirts arrived, but no scarf. I waited, assuming that it would come separately. I forgot about it. Something reminded me. I emailed Boden's customer service. By this time the scarf offer had changed to a cardigan offer. "Fine" I wrote, "send me either" (even if every other mother in Guildford is wearing the identical scarf/cardigan). They emailed me to say they're sending me a 'crinkle scarf' as a "gesture of goodwill". There is no longer an offer on Mnet so I can't have a free gift. What! There was a free gift offer at the time I ordered. You ....twonks!

It's not even that I wanted a scarf or a cardigan that much, it's just that Boden is being so unutterably stupid and illogical and I'm wasting my time getting annoyed about it.

Serves me right for buying something advertised in such a gratingly pretentious catalogue (sorry Enid).

Tempting CD, but if I do that I'll probably end up being highlighted as a 'humorous episode' on the Boden website.

Shame on Boden. I think we should send them a link to this thread.

They have humorous episodes on the website? How bizarre. They are an odd company

But there is an offer on - 10% off, free P&P and a trimmed cardi if you spend over £120. It's down the side of talk.

Are they upsetting everyone at the mo and needing to push up orders? Good Housekeeping has an offer this month on Boden - 10% of, free p&p and returns and a free stripy placket rugby top worth £35 when you spend >£130

Thanks SueW. You're right. I've just noticed it and emailed Boden. Not of course that it's relevant - it's the offer in force at the time I ordered that matters.

Can't think why I'm so annoyed about this. I think it's the contrast of all that chummy, upper-middle-class bonhomie in the brochures and the reality of their customer service that grates.

Never bought anything from them - always out of stock when I look at the website - always the item I like. I find this strange!

OK: a 'very nice young man' has just rung me from Boden. First off he claimed that the offer was a free gift or free p&P and returns! I finally had to take him through to the Active Conversations page where the banner is down the rhs of the page and the word 'plus' free gift is quite clear. It seems that the offer there and the offer on the Homepage are different. Anyway apologies all round and they're sending me the stupid cardigan - not sure sure if I've got the nerve to wear such a Bodeny Boden thing in the epicentre of Surrey!

Surely that is EXACTLY where one should wear such an item Grin

I know CD, but the chance of me bumping into another woman (or five) in the playground wearing exactly the same cardigan? About 1 in 2 or less.
