Has anyone ever thought how cool it would be to have a MN magazine?

Is that a totally impractical idea? I just had a weird thought that it would be so great to have a magazine about parenting issues written by parents, we have an endless supply of guest writers... it could have product tests, toy polls things like that and really hilarious columns by a few people I can think of!... There's too much stuff to list that we could utilise and turn into a magazine! There are quite a few people on MN who are really eloquent in voicing their opinions and I just thought it's a bit of a waste to leave them on the message boards.... it could have views from a broad spectrum of people about the same issue... it could be really great...

Is it totally impractical though? I s'pose you poor MN Owners aren't really very rich....

Fantastic idea - I've always wondered why they haven't done it yet!! I'm sure they'd get plenty of sponsors and advertising to get it going

It would be a hell of a thing to organise, take loads of time and publishing is very expensive, lots of overheads and big print bills that require advertisers to commit tons of cash.

nah. I think the whole point of MN is that it's online.

But, if I had to read a magazine, it might take away from my chatting time.... when would I work?

Produce it electronically & then attach it to here to downoad - change every month - subscribe to downoad ....?

OOOooo I'm really excited ! I want to do it

BUT isn't MN an online magazine??

Whizz why would anyone pay for a donloaded mag when the information is here FREE OF CHARGE??

I work in publishing, and have worked for a baby magazine and TBH there is little/no market for a magazine that would be a 'paper' version of MN. Just look at the variety of views, look at our lives, I would HATE to read a baby mag, I want to read about everything that is relevant (or not) to my life. I read loads of womens mags, I read sunday supps, and I truely don't believe a magazine version of MN would be my cup of tea.

What would we keep in, what would we discard. Come onthe boards, read the product tests, who needs a paper copy??

I've actually had a go at producing an online magazine for a poetry group I used to run, online magazines are my kind of thing, if it was online it would be a lot easier to create and a lot cheaper... you could download it from the homepage...

we could have article competitions and it would be a surprise to see who got in, ooh it's like school again! Lol

I would have thought the online mag would be free...

It wouldn't be like a paper version of MN if it was what I was thinking of, it would be more like the family section of The Guardian, only better...

Well, actually...I was just remembering yesterday how there used to be loads of parenting mags, and they all did really well, but I have a feeling a lot of them went belly-up and I suspect the inernet had a lot to do with it (esp sites like MN, lol!)
