It's a bit, um, cramped I think

I may get used to it but I'm not sure I like it

Anyone else have any strong feelings about it?

Tee2072 Fri 27-Jan-12 07:58:19

I think it's cramped as well. Maybe just a bit more leading?

hocuspontas Fri 27-Jan-12 08:06:51

Can't see any difference. Although I'm a Classic girl so maybe we have been left alone.

crazynanna Fri 27-Jan-12 08:14:20

I thought it was my laptop confused

I don't really like it TBH

MmeLindor Fri 27-Jan-12 09:00:48

I think it is a bit more cramped and less easy to read.

What do you mean, leading?

SilentBoob Fri 27-Jan-12 09:03:34

I'm classics as well.

Was assuming that tech was just fiddling with some code - surely they're not planning on keeping it all squished up?

PaschaAndCustard Fri 27-Jan-12 09:04:14

Looks ok to me, is it neater? Can't actually remember what it looked like before TBH.

BertieBotts Fri 27-Jan-12 09:17:29

It's too squished up. I find it really hard to read.

The "Most Active" tab next to discussions of the day is really squashed up too.

OnlyANinja Fri 27-Jan-12 09:19:45

It's gone all cramped. I'm not convinced it was done on purpose...

ThePinkPussycat Fri 27-Jan-12 09:35:38

No, deffo need a blank line to separate posts. I thought it could be a mistake, hence looking here thinking to mention it...

IWantMyHatBack Fri 27-Jan-12 09:36:44

I was just going to post about this - it looks awful and it much harder to scan for new posts.. I dont like it at all.

I don't think it's deliberate though

What's going on, MN looks AWFUL this morning... bleugh.

Don't think it's deliberate, suspect it's a glitch (Right, MNHQIT????!)

RebeccaMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 27-Jan-12 10:02:53

Thanks for letting us know.
We will speak to Tech.

MmeLindor, leading is the space between lines iirc, or it could be between words, or is that kerning confused

AnonymousBird , is it the whole of MN for you or just I'm on?

BertieBotts Fri 27-Jan-12 10:04:30

Kerning is the spaces between individual letters.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo Fri 27-Jan-12 10:04:47

leading and kerning... hot metal terminology in the techie age.

RebeccaMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 27-Jan-12 10:05:09

Ok yes, leading is the line space, kerning is the space between characters <swot> grin

SoupDragon Fri 27-Jan-12 10:05:32

Mine looks exactly the same as it always has.

For me, it's I'm On plus the lists of Discussions of the Day and Most Activeup in the right hand corner all squished in too.... That's not so bad, but the I"m On list makes the eyes boggle!!

Thanks MNHQ.

Daftapath Fri 27-Jan-12 11:15:41

Glad it's not just my eyes!

It's difficult to distinguish between the thread title and the name of the first poster in the list. Don't know if it is because the type is the same size or the leading is wrong [doesnt know what she talking about]

RebeccaMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 27-Jan-12 11:18:20

Turns out it was a small bug in the system.
Tech are working on it and the problem should be resolved soon.

Thanks for letting us know.

MmeLindor Fri 27-Jan-12 11:20:49

Oh, thanks Rebecca. I have learned something today.

Will drop that into conversation with my Dad, just to please him.

QED Fri 27-Jan-12 11:24:01

I'm a classic person and my threads I'm on is a bit squashed. Active conversations seems to be going further over to the left - the m logo on the stickies isn't totally all there but you can't scroll over at all.

Daftapath Fri 27-Jan-12 11:54:09

That's better, thankyou Tech.

More space between thread title and the bullet points back for each post/er. Amazing what you don't notice until it is gone!

Tee2072 Fri 27-Jan-12 11:58:51

Leading and kerning still very much used in the electronics age!

[geeky graphic artist of print and digital medium emoticon]

Looks much better now!

PinotMN Fri 27-Jan-12 12:12:51

Well I never knew that about keening and leading.

I rilly hope it comes up in a Pub Quiz so I can look a right nerdy swot.
