it's the only website to do so and it happens every single time I'm on MN, sometimes twice.
Bloody annoying..anyone know how to make it stop doing this please?

What browser are you using? We'll let Tech know..

Also, we've moved this into Site Stuff.

Me too.

It freezes the whole laptop and I have to Ctrl Alt Delete my way out.

I'm using Internet Explorer and Vista.

Hi Kat

I'm using Internet Explorer 8 (version 8.0. 6001.18702)

thank you

Same here. I thought it was just my crappy laptop

Pudden Tue 17-Jan-12 09:09:37

also the screen 'loses' the page I'm on constantly and I get the message

"a problem with this website caused internet explorer to close and reopen this tab"

Tech (MNHQ) Tue 17-Jan-12 16:39:54

Hi there, This is normally a problem when something on a page interacts badly with an "add-on" in your web browser (like an added search bar or similar.) This microsoft page has hints on how you can try figure out what is causing the particular problem.

Tech (MNHQ) Tue 17-Jan-12 16:41:39

Sorry, hit post too soon. Try starting IE without any add-ons (according to MS do this this way: Click the Start button , click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). )

Then see if the page displays OK. Let us know if you continue to have problems. Thanks.

crazynanna Tue 17-Jan-12 16:46:17

Do I tick "don't use recommended settings" or "do use recommended settings"?

crazynanna Tue 17-Jan-12 16:47:45

Forget that last message....it was something else blush

It says the add ons are not on confused

Pudden Tue 17-Jan-12 20:52:17

hi tech
have done as you said and got this...

*Internet Explorer is currently running without add-ons

All Internet Explorer add-ons, such as ActiveX controls or toolbars, are turned off. Some webpages might not display correctly.
To continue to your home page, click the Home button.
To browse using add-ons, close Internet Explorer and then start it again. *

so looks like it's already running as suggested yet still does this

Tech (MNHQ) Tue 17-Jan-12 21:03:58

Hi Pudden, no that means that this time you started IE it's running without Add-ons, not that it is doing that generally. If you leave it running like that, does the problem still happen?

Pudden Wed 18-Jan-12 09:11:59

yes it does

StrandedBear Wed 18-Jan-12 10:25:50

On the mobile site on my HTC keeps closing and taking me to back to homescreen not doing it on any other website.

Pudden Tue 24-Jan-12 12:57:07

still having the same problem Tech

Tech (MNHQ) Tue 24-Jan-12 16:40:26

Hi Pudden, Sorry it seems like it might be something particular to your PC / installation of Internet Explorer. Have you tried using Google Chrome or Firefox instead of internet explorer? That might help.
