Changing names

Not sure if this has been raised before, so sorry if it has.

Loads of us have recently switched to our Christmas names. However, on the member profile section, there is only room for one chat nickname. So, if we switch to an alternative name (such as Christmas or because we want to post something sensitive "anonymously"), what's to stop a new poster registering with our normal nickname, which we then can't claim back later?

I'm normally Freckle but have switched for Christmas. I'm aware that there is another poster called Freckles, so obviously I'm not the only person who wants that name. If someone else registers whilst I'm FestiveFrex, I can't switch back to my normal nickname in the New Year. Could we not have the option of registering two nicknames to avoid this?

it has been asked before apparently your name will be reserved and you can reclaim it after Xmas -- unless you change your email or something then they system won't recognise you

No-one else can use a name that's ever been used before, every name you change to can only be used by you.

Yes, posting names are linked to your email address so provided you don't change that, you'll still be able to get all your old names back.

Oh goodie. Thanks for that. Had visions of being forced to be FestiveFrex all year round .
