We're very excited that an early copy of the Mumsnet Rules has arrived at the Towers and looks marvellous we think. The Rules contains all the wit and wisdom we've garnered from Mumsnet Talk over the years and its goal is the goal of the Rules is make you into the person you would be if you had had two or three children to practise on before the ones you actually have. Here's the foreword.

So please, please tell everyone you know, pre-order many copies, and generally bore on about it to friends, relations and complete strangers.

ps You can get a sneak preview in the Sunday Times today and again next Sunday and more about.

Am I in it?

I'm only buying it if I'm in it.

I like the forward. It's written in an interesting and friendly style. This book seemed like an antidote to the strict rules of She Who Must Not Be Named! Pity my kids are too old for me to need a copy now.

Surely "mumsnet" could never agree on any rules? Wink

"the goal of the Rules is make you into the person you would be if you had had two or three children to practise on before the ones you actually have"

DP and I were discussing almost exactly this last night - we are going to be amazing marginally more relaxed parents because we have already seen it all on MN.

MardyBra true, but we can atleast buy a copy for our own sons/daughters, so that they will be better equipped when the time comes - or maybe we will just hide them away and languish in the pleasure of watching them make the same mistakes that we have Grin

cool! another idea for a new baby gift! along with the "mumsnet guide to babies" that all my first time parent friends currently recieve Grin

I don't want my kids knowing that I've evolved as a parent and don't believe all the stuff I did four years ago about babies. So I won't be buying it just in case Hmm Grin

What a treat, a whole big article in the Sunday Times this morning after I had the honour of meeting Justine last night. The book definitely looks worth a read.

I just read it in Sunday Times and like the extract BUT how annoyging that the Sunday Times chose a photo to go with the article of this very beautiful, aspirational mum with her two beautiful daughters sitting in the back of some retro vintage aspirational green car. Surely a conflicting message, is this woman meant to be representative or something?

As far as the meedja are concerned MN is very aspirational. We all have degrees and jobs and can spell and only eat organic dontcha know?
