San Sebastián - with 3 children?

Dp and I are really keen to go somewhere this summer for 10 days that's not a family resort hotel but has a bit more of a sense of being somewhere abroad than (whilst lovely) the "you could be anywhere" type hotel where you barely leave the resort itself. Not being picky, just having done so many of those sorts of holidays we just want to try something else.
Dp really keen on San Sebastián. Getting the boat there as part of the adventure.
Children are 13, 7 and 3 so pleasing them all and me staying sane always quite a challenge.
Been looking at San Sebastián but hotels don't seem to have pools. Are we making the wrong choice? Pool essential in my book!

Be prepared for rain - it's not called the green coast for nothing.

That said if you head inland your get better weather and more to do.

I'd say San Sebastian would be better without children as it's more of a foodie place
