Hi, I have been trawling through flights for a summer holiday this year. The best bargain flights I have found is to nice for the last 2 weeks in August for £430, so far so good, but I have never been to France and have no idea where to begin! We have a 7 and 8 years old and are looking for a beach holiday really. Can any body recommend any where, we really want a relaxing holiday preferably by a good beach. Help mumsnetters!!

Nice has a pebbled beach, but the near town of Villefranche sur mer is sandy (havent been, but my friend is an avid Nice fan!!)

Look out for rental apartments on www.ownersdirect.co.uk or www.holidaylettings.co.uk.

Eating out on Cote d'Azur is pricey, so probably worth renting an apartment so you can do some self catering. Or... your cheap flights will still result in a very expensive holiday!!

Enjoy!

Juan Les Pins has a lovely beach. The beach at Villefranche is tiny and the town is VERY steep. Really calm and gently shelving. There are free bits where you can set up camp, or plenty of places to hire a sun lounger. There are some good restaurants directly on the beach too. You don't even need to put your shoes on.

I would look for an apartment in Antibes or Juan Les Pins. It is very easy to get the train (or bus) up and down the coast to visit other towns. We rented a fabulous apartment a few years back on Cap D/Antibes - it wasn't cheap - but there were many other options.
