I think we might like to spend June half term in Holland.

We were thinking of getting a holiday cottage near the sea, but have no idea about good resorts.

We would also like to hire some bikes.

Will the weather be much the same as the UK?

Is it feasible to drive from calais? Norwich ferry is £400 that week.

Sorry - I can't talk to you about Holland because I haven't been yet but am hoping you get some responses. I've drawn a blank in my quest to find anyone who's been to Beekse Bergen where we've booked to spend the second week of Easter. If it's any help at all (and quite possibly not as I haven't actually been there yet), I looked all over Holland before choosing Beekse Bergen and the max driving time Via Michelin was coming up with was 5 hours which to me means most of the country is completely feasible drive from Calais.

Hopefully someone more useful will be along soon!

Hello, a few years ago we stayed at one of the centre parcs in Holland during the June half term, it wasn't that busy because the dutch didn't have a half term holiday.
The weather is very similar to the UK, including the temperature of the North Sea! You could try websites like www.landal.com.
All the beaches are wonderful, lovely and sandy a few of my favourite beaches are Zandvoort, and the one at Port Zealand. Hope this helps.

Yes we've been several times. The climate is the same as the UK so seaside in June may be scorching or pouring rain smile.
I have been on the Hull ferry and the Harwich ferry which are a very relaxing start to a holiday and short drive in Holland. The roads there are much less busy than here , well maintained and well signed. They have restrictions on HGVs at certain time.

One of the Landal Graan Parks (as mentioned by gardeningsarah) have some beach houses for 4 to 6 people right on the beach close to one of their resorts in the north of Holland look for beach cottages here . Great location for visiting some of the small islands up there too.

Duinrell in Wassenaar is another option - close to the beach and woods for cycling and in walking distance of the town itself.

Dont think any Dutch schools are off for that week in June - they have their holiday at the end of May this year. Weather more or less the same as UK and bike hire available everywhere - the Dutch love their bikes!

We always use the Hook of Holland to Harwich route and use the overnight route as we find that more relaxing (and only 30 mins to Wassenaar/The Hague from Hook of Holland) but friends do the Calais one and say the drive is fine.
Hope that helps.
