Secondary schools in West Lothian

Hi, I've asked this in Local and only had one response, so thought I'd try here to see if anyone else has an opinion.

Does anyone have experience of secondary schools in West Lothian? I'm thinking about Linlithgow Academy, Bathgate Academy, and St Kentigern's, though we could consider ones further out at a pinch.

DS would be going into S5, and wanting to study Higher Music amongst other things.

I'm interested to hear how people have found the schools, would they recommend them, etc.

TIA

Hi

I think it might depend on where exactly you were living, and how your DS was to get to school. I wouldn't fancy driving from say West Calder to Linlithgow in the winter rush hour... Also, it would depend on the other subject options for your DS. Does his current music teacher have any information on the most-likely best school for music? I did go to one of the schools a very, very, very long time ago, so my feelings would be terribly out of date! To be honest, nothing beats an on-site ordinary-day visit to get the feel of a school and have a good look round.

Good luck with whatever you and DS choose.

Thanks, we're between Bathgate and Linlithgow, so either of those are practical, plus I drive into Edinburgh anyway so dropping off is easy (though picking up cuold take some working out). I haven't tried asking his music teacher - interesting idea, as she does have connections with schools so probably has an opinion.
