Brentwood School? (Independent)

DD1 goes to a small Independent school in the town where we live. We are pleased with it and she is very happy there- it's just the right school for her but not sure it will suit DD2 as she is more academic and would suit a more rigorous academic environment.

DD2 is at present in year 5 and working towards her 11+ as she would like to go to Grammar School( Chelmsford or Westcliff)

If she does not pass we are looking for alternatives in the Independent sector and have been thinking about trying her out for the Brentwood Independent school.

Anyone have a DC there who could give me an opinion on what it's like?

Also -what does the entrance test involve? Is it verbal and non- verbal reasoning?

Hi Smartiejake
Brentwood is a lovely school we are considering it as an option for dd if we do not get into the state school of our choice, but this is a long way off for us and is just at the back of my mind so I have not researched too much. However as far as I know the entrance exam is slightly easier than the Essex 11+. They will provide past papers for you to try on registration.
I think it is verbal reasoning but I am not 100% sure. Have you had the pack sent out to you? Good luck.

really bad IB results - hit the national press a couple of years ago when lots of the Sixth Form didn't get ANY university place. According to the report in The Times, the school was forced to offer a third year in Sixth Form for free!
My friend took her DD out of the school because the staff didn't seem to know the children at parents evenings. Not great pastoral care. There are better and more academic independent schools in the area.
