When I say beyond; I've heard of one boy commuting from Kent by train.

Do you think it matters if there is not a straightforward (e.g. one train etc) route?

I know boys who came from Herne Hill, Richmond and New Malden.

DS is commuting just under an hour door to door to an independent school in central London from west London. It is an easy commute, no change of train and it is taking its toll. It is not an unusual commuting time for this school, some boys have an even longer commute, but I agree that it is long when they are just eleven. And lonely. And he feels vulnerable at times, when there are severe delays so I commute with him particularly in winter when it is dark and gloomy. From 13 and/or if he can commute with friends that would make all the difference in the world.
