Was close call but we chose Hampton over KCS. I know both very good schools but still having slight wobble as to having made right choice ......reassure me!! Has anyone made same choice?

They're both so good it really comes down to detail such as location, or just gut feel. We're closer to Hampton than KCS so know more boys who have chosen Hampton over KCS than the other way around. For what it's worth, DS1 turned down both for St Paul's - and for DS2, given the choice, we'll probably go for KGS. It's really down to personal circumstances and to the individual child.

You've made your decision so you need to own it - it was right for your DS, no matter what anyone else thinks!

We turned down KCS and RGS for Hampton. DS is excited and can't wait until September.

Hi. We are in the same position this year and would love to find out your experience having chosen Hampton. Has it worked out well for your DS?

Hi,
Just in that stage about making the decision between RGS and Hampton. Although RGS had been academically higher for Oxbridge, I think in the recent past Hampton has thrived at this. Also this year the 11+ had been quite difficult and I personally know boys who got into RGS but had not got through Hampton. Any thoughts?

RGS has less candidates by about 200 this year, similar number of spaces so guess it is 'easier' to get into. All the boys I know got offers from both so think they are similar in difficulty (and know more people who got big scholarship offers at Hamptons and nothing at RGS).
I wouldn't look at the Oxbridge offers as both schools are outstanding academically. We chose RGS for the easier journey. You cannot go wrong with either school, you have a lovely choice of schools.

That's interesting about Hampton scholarships. Are they trying to secure the best boys? Why do you think less applied to RGS this year then? But as you correctly say , both great schools !

Less apply to RGS as it is that bit further out of London IMHO, Hamptons has a huge population around it. I think that more people are appliying than ever and that everyone is doing more exams than before. No idea about the scholarships but would guess they are trying to get the top lot to come.
Good luck!
