A Level Results day - HELP!

Ok so am trying to book next year's summer holiday (specific place we love at busy time = book a year + in advance)
End of term is officially 26/07/16 - a Tuesday but I know dd3's school will be closed for training days Monday and Tuesday that week. Dd2's school doesn't say on their website and whilst I will ring tomorrow I bet they can't tell me when training days are yet. They don't always add them on to the end of term. Certainly been one year that they had to go in on a Monday for the last day (finish at 12.30!)
We want to go for two weeks and dd1 will be getting her a-level results that summer. SO if a-level results is the second Thursday like it is this year (or I think it is as I believe that's when she gets as level results) then I need to take a chance and book from Saturday 23rd for two weeks. BUT if it's 18/08 which is what I'm finding on line then we could go from 30/07 for two weeks. However 18/08 is the third Thursday and whilst I've seen a couple of ucas links which are definite I've also seen exam board links which are 'to be confirmed'. I can't get this wrong! Does anybody know why the date is the week earlier this year? It does seem really early to me. But then GCSE results seemed a week early to me last year. According to the dates I've seen today they won't be till 25th August next year!
Am tempted to say sod it and play safe (re results day) booking from 23rd.

The dates you want are the JCQ ones; these are the ones that the various awarding bodies have to abide by. For 2015-2016, A Level results will be be released on Thursday 18th August and GCSE results the week after, Thursday 25th August. (This year it's Thursday 13th and Thursday 20th for A Levels and GCSEs respectively). I work in Exams at my local college!

Oh great, thanks. I'll ask the family what they want to do then. Do you know why the difference in weeks?

I thought GCSE results always come out the Thursday before the August Bank Holiday Monday, and A-level results the week before the GCSEs,

I think the date has been creeping forward these last few years, as dates do, and this year is very early, so next year is getting back to normal.

Last year the August Bank Holiday was the earliest it could be, hence results days being pushed early. This year the BH is the latest it can be - I don't know why they didn't jump the results days back this year, but they didn't.

We've just had to change out holiday plans for next year because I had forgotten about A level results. Yes it's 18th August.
