Please can you tell me what happens when an admissions policy is 'non compliant'.

Sorry, posted too soon.

My back story is that, due to primary expansions near to where I live, my twins are unlikely to get into any of the six nearest schools in next year's admissions rounds.

In my LA, the LA has compliant admissions arrangements but none of the non LA schools do. They have all failed to provide details of arrangements for admitting children outside of their normal age group.

I have been told that once the arrangements have been published, they cannot be amended. I am now wondering what kind of merry hell may be unleashed next year when unprecidented numbers of appeals are likely and this is paired with non compliant arrangements?

I expect that as the errors relate to a relatively niche aspect (not many parents want their children to change year groups) this should not affect the process too much, however, I would like to check!

In an appeal situation the question is whether the non-compliance has cost the pupil a place. This will therefore only be relevant if a parent can argue that they wanted to apply for a place outside the normal age group for their child but were unable to do so due to the admission authority's failure to state the process for making such a request. For the overwhelming majority of appeals this will be irrelevant. Even where it is relevant the appeal panel may feel that all the parents had to do was pick up the phone, ring the school and ask.

Many thanks! That is what I was hoping to hear.

Next year is going to be mad enough without any futher chaos being thrown into the mix!
