We're relocating to Ipswich and would like anyones experiences of these schools to help with the decision of where to look for a house. We'd have one daughter going onto year 7 mid year and another starting next year. Thank you!

In order of preference ; Farlingaye , Kesgrave and then Copplestin, but bear in mind that Farlingaye is in Woodbridge not Ipswich .

Sorry noticed mid year , vvv difficult to get a mid year place at Farlingaye , advice is generally if you don't get in at year 7 then you have to wait for year 12 but I have heard of the odd person getting a place .Kesgrave is also over subscribed I think

I have friends with a child at Farlingaye. They have been pleased but they still have children taking GCSEs in Year 10 and not getting very good grades and average-high ability children take too many GCSEs (12). The school is well thought of but definitely difficult to get into mid year.

Agree about Farlingaye , able children takes masses of useless GCSEs and the tutoring industry is very developed in Woodbridge .Nevertheless its a very good school.Kesgrave takes a lot of GCSEs in year10 as well .Have you thought about Northgate as well .

have a yr 7 & yr9 DC's at Farlingaye, both are doing well. Yr 7 DC has had a couple of children leave his form this year, so may be some spaces there, but you may stuggle if living in Ipswich. yr 9 DC has just chosen GCSE options and is doing 10, which seems to be the norm or I think it is. Kesgrave again may be difficult to get into unless in catchment.

Looks like they have changed their policy then! 10 is far more sensible.

Thanks all. I think Northgate too far from DHs work.
