KCS 13+ Interviews

Anyone else out there anxiously checking e-mails for invitations to interview at KCS?....getting quite late in the day and beginning to wonder if anyone has heard anything?

Just received ours....very relieved to have cleared the first hurdle....good luck to all the others. I suspect they must be sending them all out round about now as its almost the end of the school day....

Pretty sure they said about 200, for 100 offers (65-ish actual places).

Last day of interviews today.....how did everyone's DS get on? Mine didn't give much away but seemed to enjoy the process - not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing! Now just have to wait until the 13th!!!

DS had his interview yesterday. I can't believe how busy it was - so many boys! DS said the interview went well but I'm not getting my hopes up as all the boys from his school seem to think they did amazingly well! I wonder how many boys they actually interviewed - there was 3 days of interviews and in the 40 minutes of so that I was there they were calling 4 boys every 10 minutes! I suppose we just need to wait until the 13th now.......

Oops - just reread your message pineapplechick. 200 boys interviewed? That doesn't add up with the sort of numbers that were going through yesterday, but perhaps they interviewed less boys on Thursday and Friday ?....doesn't bode well for DS if this is the case!

From what i have heard, they interviewed only a few children on Thursday afternoon.. None in morning. We had ours on Friday afternoon and the kids were called in batches of 10 probably every half hour...DS seemed pleased, more like relieved!
Yes it's a number game now... Till 13th!

Perhaps the small number of interviewees on Thursday were the boys who did best in the test?...so more of a "Check they are normal"....the rest of the candidates are being compared against each other!

Hmm, all the boys I know who were interviewed on Thursday are ones who also have interviews at Westminster... Having said that I also know some very bright ones who had theirs on Friday or Monday, so who knows!

Hmmmm indeed - the brightest boy in our prep got called in on Thursday...AND he was interviewed by the Principal Deputy Head and another deputy head...the rest of the boys in DS' school got Monday and regular teachers....I suppose it would make sense for them to get a benchmark of what "good" looks like in an interview if the Thursday candidates are the "stand outs". Doesn't mean that there's no space for the rest of our DS' (especially since it seems a very small number of boys seen)....!

All boys from our prep were interviewed on Friday afternoon, spread out over the afternoon in alphabetical order. They have interviews at St Pauls, Westminster, CLBS and Hampton - some at all of them. Not sure we can read anything into the order of interviews. All boys interviewing at Hampton are also on the same day and time.

Yes - we all have same day for Hampton, but they told us that they do it by school so fully expected that. Hopefully there is nothing in it but I actually do believe that all schools have a "method" in the ordering of boys for interview as if its completely random it would be too difficult to objectively assess the boys against each other, especially if you have multiple people doing the interviews (which is the case at KCS).

On Friday at KCS, if there were 10 boys in every 20 minute slot then from 2pm (we know one boy at that time) and last 10 at 4.40. then 90 boys were interviewed on Friday afternoon, half the number of interviewees Mr Hall said they would be interviewing in his talk on exam day. So Friday must have had the biggest number of interviewees,

DS was on Thursday afternoon - I must admit I was surprised at the fact there were so few boys there...they were called in 2 at a time and I only saw 4 other boys during the time I was there...I was hoping this meant that they has decided not to interview that many!! Clearly not :-(

The last 10 were not at 440 pm on Friday, my DS was at 440 and I saw more boys waiting in the big hall when we left at 515 pm... So not sure how many were interviewed on Friday. I was there from probably 415 and saw one set of 10 boys go in before my son and probably 10 after 5. Hence the assumption that they called 10 every half an hour or so.. I could be wrong though!

We know someone who was there at 5 on Friday. They were definitely every 20 mins, My son was 2.40 and the next lot were called at 3pm. We know someone who was at 3.20 and again at 4pm. However I don't think that 10 boys were called at my son's time (but I can't be sure). If there were 10 for every time slot, then over 100 boys poss 130 would have been interviewed on Friday afternoon. Don't know anything about Monday, as don't know anyone who interviewed on Monday.

DS has been offered a place this morning at both KCS and Hampton!

DS got his offer from KCS this morning too....also got offers from the other 2 he applied for so thrilled to bits. Think we will take KCS though!
