Boarding School - One term Y10 Boy

Wondering whether anyone could recommend a UK boarding school that might take a Y10 German Boy for one term only. He is bright, speaks good but not perfect English and is sporty. The family would prefer to avoid specialised "international" sections if possible. Thanks

I would have thought lots of boarding schools will take a child for a term, many I fact do exchanges with schools abroad taking a child for a term. Does it matter where in the UK? What about fees can you afford the sort of fees charged by a top school? Why is he coming to the UK?
These are the sort of questions you need to answer?

Have you looked in to home stay options? Several companies offer state school home stays (staying with an English family) for one term to a whole year. Thus absolutely avoiding the 'international' sections! They often also offer offer boarding schools - I believe that any student in UK boarding school must have a UK based guardian and the company fulfils this role. I have hosted nearly twenty German students this way (mainly home stay, not much call for boarding programme from EU residents once they look at the price comparisons and do the sums!).

Thanks, Happygardening. Asking on behalf of a friend. They are looking for their DS to perfect his English and to experience a UK school. They do not want an exchange. Fees not a problem. Ideally within reach of London/Manchester airports so that parents could attend the odd sports fixture. Scotland would be too far.

Gawd, I've just read my post back. looks like I'm touting for business. I'm not - which is why I didn't include the name of a company that I host for - I was just trying to provide an alternative.!

Thanks fourcornered. They are not looking for home stay...long story but linked to nightmare exchange for older child in the US a couple of years ago..but the boarding programme sounds interesting. Are you allowed to post links on this site?

I understand :)

www.aegisuk.net is the body that oversee the registration and safety of guardianship companies. It's probably a good place to start looking at different companies. If you click the green link mark membership, then guardianship organisations you can do a search by regions eg. Northwest/Southeast/London. Different companies will have boarding links to different schools from what I can tell.

Contact a few well known schools and sound them out what have you got to loose? I guess your looking for full boarding so why don't you try Marlborough, St Edwards and Kings Canterbury all full boarding the first two are easily doable for Heathrow, Kings Canterbury realistically is more doable for Gatwick/Stanstead. All three will have a good mixture of UK and non UK children.

Lots of schools do this. Any geographical ties? Trinity School, Teignmouth certainly do this.
