Hi all,

I feel very torn between my first choice of school for my DD

I absolutely love both Sacred heart in harrow and loreto college in St. Albans, both are outstanding schools. My DD also likes both of them and doesn't mind which one.

We are very lucky, as either school we put as a first choice, my DD is highly likely to gain a place. My DD's primary is a feeder school to Loreto College and we're live the closest to that school out of all the girls in her primary and the other school, sacred heart is in our borough, so again she is certain to gain a place. I think knowing this is making it harder for me to choose between the two.

Does anyone have any girls at these schools that can offer a little more info than I know.

Thanks in advance

Jane

Firstly, You're very fortunate to have such a choice of two excellent catholic girls school.

I had exactly the same decision to make with my daughter and like you..I loved both schools.

I am also an ex pupil of sacred heart and sacred heart held a special place in my heart for me but it was loreto that I slightly preferred over both schools.

I think what you might want to consider is, how do you think your daughter will be with travelling by coach to Loreto college? The coach arrives roughly around 7.20am and returns around 4.30pm. It is a long day for the girls compared to going to sacred heart.
Another negative is after school clubs, it becomes limited if you're unable to collect your daughter from St. Albans as obviously the coach would of already left. This might need to be considered if you have younger children in primary.

The pros to sacred heart is that it is local. The girls can attend homework club and after school activities.

The pros to loreto is if your daughter is in a feeder school then they will be other girls joining them at loreto. At my daughters primary 11 girls went to loreto. At sacred heart she would of been the only girl from her primary. I will be honest, this is how I chose between the two schools.

Good luck choosing but remember both schools are fantastic so an offer of both schools would be great :)

I attended Loreto (many years ago) and I was incredibly happy there.

Our family experienced a tragedy during my time there and the pastoral support was amazing.

I will always remember the incredible support and kindness I was shown.

Having read their OFSTED reports it seems the amazing pastoral care is still a great strength of the school.
