Can you explain a bit more?

Your DS is in primary school at the moment choosing secondary schools, is that right?

And his first choice school is out of area? You can put it as first choice on the normal application form, but you need to choose other schools as 2nd 3rd etc prefernce choices and it would be wise to make these schools that are closer to home.

Or is your son older and applying 'in year'?

Make sure you read the admission policy/criteria for the school which will help you judge how likely he is to be offered a place.

You don't want to 'waste' too many choices on the form on schools which he has very little chance of getting a place at, so read admission policies and chose a range of schools.

You need to apply to your own Council who then send the forms to the area where the school is.
In most areas you have 3 preferences and you list the name of the school and the name of the council area the school is in.
I wouldn't recommend just listing one school especially if it's not your nearest one. So you need to also include some more local schools that would be OK.

Hello everyone,
I need yor help again.I think my son which is 10 y.o. needs an additional English lesson to improve the language as well.He started in Y4 here when we came to UK .It is his 3 year in a Primary school , he is workink hard as he can, but still needs a bit more .I mean he does not use more complicate sentences when he writing his homeworks.Last year he passed 3 levels in Kumon centre nearby but I think he needs more serious lessons.Which courses you might recommend or looking for a tutor? Thanks in advance.
