We seem to have reached the limit on the other one!

DD finished her second english paper today. She was a bit worried about the first one, thought it hadn't gone well. In this one she had to analyse a blog written by Tom Hiddleston, it had various mentions of the Avengers films, which she loves.
She saw it as a sign Grin

DS is another one whose school has no sixth form. It makes me a bit sad as I had such a blast in sixth form, and I think the sixth form experience in a senior school is a really good one. Having said that, the sixth form college is one of the best in the country apparently and we were very impressed with it.

At last! DC revising hard for tomorrow's biology.

sunshinecity17 · 05/06/2014 15:13

It just seems to go on and on and on.DS2 still got 10 more papers to go -3 more science papers, 5 maths papers and 2 RE

Bouncingbeans · 05/06/2014 15:48

DD really stuck into Biology today, so seems to be back in the zone. I have been worried she wasnt doing enough and still touch and go for sciences, but she is definitely a crammer thats for sure!

Feel like I cant encourage, cajole or push any more than I have so leaving her to her own devices for the rest of these exams (doesnt stop me from worrying though!).

AtiaoftheJulii · 05/06/2014 16:54

Having seen dd1 go through y12, I really do think you have to be ready to go from day 1. And dd2 is rather prone to anxiety and felt it was an extra challenge for her. That said, we were both incredibly impressed with the sixth form college, and it hasn't been a foregone conclusion. I'm sure that colleges in areas with only 11-16 schools are actually really good at settling everyone in and getting them working. The college we looked at certainly gets fantastic results given its fairly low selection bar.

eatyourveg · 05/06/2014 17:32

ds3 did remarkably well today looking after ds2 while I was at work and says he even managed some science revision. Computer monitor broke so he couldn't do any Bitesize or Mathswatch. Doesn't want to go into school for the physics lesson tmrw which is just before lunch. I'm not convinced that's a good idea, I'd rather he get the chance to see the physics teacher before the exam even if its just for a chivvy along chat and not a revision lesson as such.

Just marking my place.

SupportManager · 05/06/2014 21:11

Oh, we've moved! Who knew there was a limit?!
DD has been home alone working all day. Seems to have done a lot , and did follow up with me this evening.
Morning revision session at school tomorrow followed by an exam. Then back in school on Sat and Sunday for more revision sessions.
Will this ever end!!!!!

KatyMac · 05/06/2014 21:15

DD had a major melt-down last night - she is going to fail & have to stay at school forever

So I agreed & then she had a go at me instead of worrying about exams - I'm so tired of it all

Best1sWest · 05/06/2014 21:32

Maths revision tonight not so great. It was one of those questions about gas bills. Mrs X uses 2400 units of gas per year. If Mrs X pays £1.52 per day standing charge to Gas company A and 53p an unit, is she better off switching to Gas company B who charge £1.57 per day etc.
There was a bit of a meltdown. I wish I could sit it for him

nostress · 05/06/2014 21:42

Chin up peeps!

DS went into school for revision sessions he called 'depressingly disorganised'. Hmmmm. I honestly don't know what to do for the best home where he doesn't do much at all or school with me imagining hes doing lots of quality revision but not...

Jellykat · 05/06/2014 22:24

Well we can see the finishing line here.. Only Chemistry resit and Maths left next week, and DS already has a C in that.
Yes i do sound like a smug cow, but we've really been through the mill re. Secondary school, it's been a long battle.
..And the best bit - after 21 years of DCs school years, i only have 1 uniform wash left to do in my life!

Best1sWest · 06/06/2014 06:06

Yay to the uniform wash Jellykat. Never having to buy school trousers again is. Something I 'me looking forwArd to.

Marni23 · 06/06/2014 07:17

DD has (AQA IGCSE) Biology today then another 6 to go next week and the week after. Feels like this has been going on forever! Good luck to all your DC with exams today.

AtiaoftheJulii · 06/06/2014 07:46

OCR Chemistry here, and then also another 6 to go. DD2 definitely feels like she's had enough I think - last night was "I'm just crap at everything" etc. Hoping today goes well and gives her a boost for the remainder.

KatyMac · 06/06/2014 07:48

DD2 definitely feels like she's had enough I think - last night was "I'm just crap at everything" - that's what we are getting here too

She actually wants to cancel dance class at the weekend as it's too much effort

LeapingOverTheWall · 06/06/2014 07:54

DD2 wet to bed with the start of a migraine last night Sad. Hopefully she's managed to sleep it off in time for last minute Biology revision before this afternoon's exam. Good thing it's an afternoon exam and not this morning Smile.

LeapingOverTheWall · 06/06/2014 08:22

Sunshine city - why 5 maths papers maths teacher baffled

MorvahRising · 06/06/2014 08:39

OCR Biology here this afternoon. Atia I went rushing to check my schedule in a panic when you said you had OCR chemistry! Isn't it odd how they're on different days when they're the same board? Ours is definitely biology, but I'm still worrying!

DS seems to have got his momentum back now after a distinct slowing down over half term.

AtiaoftheJulii · 06/06/2014 08:46

It's miserable, isn't it Katy ? I went with a bracing "you are clearly not crap at everything, I'm not even trying to give more of an answer to that one" and a hug and an early night. She's been unsettled all week worrying about Monday's history that she wasn't entirely happy with. She also tends to focus on dd1's lacksadaisical approach to life, and we've had lots of complaining about "she never does any work and she always does better than me" - (1) dd1 does do some work, she just doesn't have that innate conscientiousness that dd2 has, plus she doesn't get stressed about it, and (2) does better at what????? There's really nothing to compare (both HEd for primary years, and dd2 only went to school in y9, so there aren't years' worth of levels to look at!) - but I suppose GCSEs will be a point of comparison so she's worrying about that already.

We'll all be glad when this finishes in a fortnight!

Morvah hers is OCR Gateway - think OCR do 2 or 3 different courses! And yeah, I think I did the same check the other way round before half term when she had Biology and someone else (maybe you!) mentioned a different OCR science exam that day.
