KS3 - where to find info in effects of French Revolution

Can anyone recommend a good website on the effects of the French Revolution that a 12 year old would understand. My daughter has to produce an A3 sheet on the causes and effects of the French Revolution, but says she hasn't come across many effects that she understand and can clearly put in her own words.

Think about it in terms of political, social and economic affects.

This gives you three topics to research.

How did it change the politics of France? How did it affect the politics of other countries? (eg Britain very scared of revolution spreading across the water)

Economic effects. Did France prosper after the revolution economically?

Social effets. How did society change? Did it become more mobile? Was the aristocracy still in charge?

Zhou Enlai: "It's too early to tell".

(Although the quote is disputed).

Call me old fashioned, but I think books are far easier to find age appropriate info in. Has she tried the school library? Children's encyclopaedia? Public library? Asked her teacher to borrow a text book? She can spend more time actually reading about the topic then than trawling through adult Wikipedia type stuff then. Books may look dated, but I'm sure the important facts haven't changed!

BBC Bitesize is quite good and specifically tailored for KS3 students.

And some of the resources here are OK, although variable in quality.

Thanks for your replies and am passing on all info to my daughter tonight. Their school do a lot of independent learning tasks where they have to work out what is required and pull in all the appropriate information. She's normally gets really good marks for this, but for some reason she's been struggling, spending far more like that she should!
