Anyone else's DC waiting for results on 6 Aug? I've one doing Advanced Highers (but already has unconditional place) and one doing Highers, who hasn't applied, but may apply through clearing if the results are good enough.

Neither has signed up for email/text results, so they'll be waiting until 3pm for the postie!

We'll be waiting for the postie too as DC forgot to register for the email/text service. Not looking forward to it as maths looked like it was just on the wrong side of the pass mark.

It must be very disconcerting to not know what you're going to be doing after the results.

I'm hoping DC2 goes back for sixth year - I think 16's too young to go to uni (that was the age I went)

They might not offer him a place this year because of his age.

A girl near us got 5 As and has a fantastic personal statement - on the national team for a sport she does, silver D of E etc - but wasn't accepted for a social science course she applied for. She only applied to the uni of her home town so might have been offered a place if she'd applied to more unis I suppose. (Her mum was relieved too!) She has unconditionals for this year though.

I agree that 16 seems very young, especially most of the students from outwith Scotland will be older than the Scottish students who have done a 6th year.

Waiting for highers here. DD is convinced she has failed at least one (Biology). But already go back for 6th year so not too nail biting. I think she signed up for text message as she did last year. Good luck all, I hope your dc get the results they need.

Waiting for Standard Grade results here for my Aspergers son. He sat 7 credits and one Int 2. His maths may be a credit failure as he was only in a General/Foundation class but was scoring well so they put him in for the credit exam. Unfortunately he hadn't covered some of the credit material so it's quite unlikely that he will pass with a '2'.

I think I'm more nervous than he is!

DD is waiting for seven results, she is not confident at all.

She finds exams very stressful and cam go into a bit of a panic, so really has no idea at the end of an exam as to whether she passed or didn't.

Her prelim results were very mixed.

She's definitely going back for fifth year, and maybe sixth, so she has plenty of options, depending in the results.

She would quite like to be a teacher.

Waiting for Standard Grades here.
DS did sign up for results via text but has lost his phone.

We have to go out tomorrow so it will be an anxious wait. Last year the envelope didn't fit in the post box and we had to go to the sorting office the next day. Don't think my nerves could handle that. Luckily I have spoken to the postman and asked him to slide them under the door or just bend the envelope.

I actually feel sick with nerves when I think about it. DS seems fairly laid back.

I think some of DD's friends got their email in the middle of the night last year!

I'm so of you people with children organised enough to sign up for the text alert. Have you got daughters, by any chance? I don't know any boys who signed up.

My DD didn't sign up this year - she forgot. But she read out a message from the SQA which stated that if you have not opted out of the email/text service you'll get an email before 9am. She did register for the text/email last year so maybe that keeps her on the email list? Not sure what happens if you've never registered.

DD is hoping for AABC. I'll be delighted if she gets AACC (minimum effort as previously mentioned, despite her requesting us to get her a tutor then doing the absolute minimum of the work he set her ). However, she knows that she might have just missed a C for maths. I hope she hasn't got ABCD, which is possible. AAAAAGGGHH.

Most of her friends are predicted AAAAA - if DD hasn't done well I think hope she will feel foolish for not trying harder.

Sorry to hijack, but I do feel a bit better for getting that off my chest!

I have a DD. DS never signed up when it was his turn.

DD is awaiting seven standard grade and int 2s and has no idea if she has passed or failed.

Ohh Cormoran, how horrible for her and you. I hope she's done well and subsequently has more confidence for her highers.

I used to wonder why parents got so het up about their DC's results - surely if they hadn't tried hard and not done well they would have learned a valuable life lesson - I used to think. Blooming expensive lesson to learn though. Blooming frustrating and annoying watching them resist all your efforts to get them to understand that one year of effort is not much time out of the whole of their life and will afford them so many more choices......

It must be equally bad when your DC don't perform to the best of their abilities in exams. Hope she's pleasantly surprised.

I fear I've got a bright under performer too. He was quite arsey until a couple of days ago, but he said this morning that he wished he'd studied more.

He was hoping for AABBB, but admitted that it's more likely to be ABBCC. Still a respectable set of results, but prob not enough for what he wants to do.

What are your kids hoping to so? DD wants to be a teacher, but is only just going into fifth year so there is time in hand if this is a tough year.

My DD is bright, lovely and I adore her. But she can be qute dizzy, and often just doesn't get stuff, so panics - nit handy in exams.

I've also got one waiting for Advanced Higher results with a confirmed place. Sadly the confirmed place means she didn't work very hard, so she is not expecting the results to be very good.
She got her results by text last year, but didn't bother this time.

standard grades here well not me DD2 she didnt sign up for the text results but dd1 got an email dd2 just wants to wait for the post man , good luck to all

dd is doing a mixture of standard grades an int2s and she did quite well in the prelims but I hope she didnt go to bits in the exams I am sure it will be fine, she did warn me not to hold out for music as her performing wasnt great
