'A' levels over 3 years - is this a problem?

Have posted this in Further Education too:
DD is just finishing yr10. She has taken her maths gcse this year. Year11 have previously done additional maths but DD thinks she will be doing C1 during year11 - a year early, and then rest of AS modules in yr12. Is this going to cause a problem with university applications? DD is hoping to do medicine. Thanks for any advice.

I think it can cause problems occasionally. The solution is to do the work in yr 11 but not sit the exam until yr 12.

For medicine - think it might be a problem. As its so competitive, med schools usually like A levels to be taken over 2 years.

A number of medical require all maths modules to be sat in Y13 so this approach will mean your DD will waste an application to this institutions. Check on the websites for which ones where this applies.

Doing C1 in Y11 is not a good idea anyway as it usually leads to lower results than if taken in Y12. Then she is risking needing to resit which can also cause problems for competitive courses.
